We were talking a little while ago about stuff breaking
on hard floors in front of the fridge, about tile floors
cracking in front of the fridge, and about vinyl floors
(mine) gouged by ham-fisted movers installing the fridge.

Well, I just did something by accident that I guess I've
never done before. I opened the fridge in a darkened
kitchen and just happened to look at the floor and actually
see what the reflected refrigerator light was revealing.

Dents. Dozens of them. Almost all shaped like a curved
almond, as though made by a can or jar or bottle falling
on its edge, which is almost certainly the case.

Even though that floor has had 14.5 years to accrue this
medical history, there are easily ten times as many
bruises as I'd have guessed.

So it seems a rug or some sort of mat would be a necessity,
if the vinyl weren't so forgiving...

I always keep a small rug in front of the 'frige, but not for the reason
above...

There are some cats that like to snuggle down in front of the 'frige to
take advantage of the heat coming out from under it.

The rug is there for them so they will be more comfy. <G>

Aye ! AYE ! it's taken me lots of broken beers on a tiled floor to realise
that, a rug in front of the fridge is a necessity.

I guess I don't understand why so many people have such "dropsy" from the
fridge or cabinets. I think I have only had that sort of accident 2-3
times in my life. Maybe I just hold on tighter. :-)

I don't drop stuff...
I knock other stuff out of the 'frige sometimes when reaching in behind
for other stuff.

I seldom drop food, but there have been a few times in my life where I
made a simple food choice, attempted to implement it and spent my time
cleaning up when I could have been eating. I ruined what I wanted to eat
in a shower of glass and food. It was a mop-up from a simple thought
gone horribly wrong.

I tend to drop stuff when I get bumped around by three 70 pound dogs
trying to see what is in the refrigerator when I open the door. All of
them are mooches - and one is a serious chipotle refried bean junky. He
was really sick for a long time and for some reason the only thing that
he would eat was chipotle refried beans on flour tortillas. If there
are any of those in the refrigerator when I open it, I darn near get
knocked over on the floor.
