I have a few large ones. One is 17 quarts (my pasta pot of which I hold
great affection as it I was given to me at my bridal shower by my
mother) and a 12 quart one I picked up in Germany years ago. I also have
a smaller, annoying 10 quart pasta pot with insert but it rarely is
used. My dutch ovens (2) are both 8 quarts.

I noticed something on the RFCers map. It coincides with the map of my
blog visitors. I'm beginning to think that the map more represents
connectivity than actual interest.

I just I can count the days useing 3 fingers that I finally have a
news reader set up to my liking. I have 5 of 30 days left on the
trial period. Does that tell you anything about why more people don't
bother with anything other than Google Groups? Most don't post enough
to care if they have a real news reader or not.

Actually, it could be termed a survey, but with "open questions".
However, I have no intention of doing this type of survey on the RFC
site, because:

1. In this type of survey the results are only published at the end of
the survey.
2. Before they are published, somebody (me, in this case) has to
summarize/analyze the results and present them, otherwise it would be
"just another forum".
3. I have no intention of re-inventing the wheel (i.e. rec.food.cooking)

For the current "multiple choice" surveys on the site I would welcome
some questions and their possible answers. I am afraid that aem's
"survey" does not fit the bill in this case.

BTW, your "Bottles for olive oil" suggestion is the type of thing I am
looking for. Thank you.

You're welcome! I'll see if I can come up with some other survey
suggestions for you without posting them here first. Just items of
curiosity, you might say. In the case of the "bottles" thread, I was so
tickled that John remembered an innocuous comment about my wanting a bottle
like one we saw in a shop I just posted it :)

Wasn't it @home.com that was being blocked from many servers several
years ago for the same reason. I don't remember the details. But I
think I remember they had to clean up their act. Maybe google is just
to big now and is "above the law"

Most? Huh? Aren't you speaking for a rather large crowd? Maybe most
in "your" circle, but that's hardly an accurate statement. Google
doesn't carry "most" of the groups I use. I'd be very unhappy without
a real reader and access to a real server. Even AOL's setup was
horrible before they discontinued it.

Thanks Jill. I would really appreciate some more suggestions from you.

Currently, I have been selecting topics by either what was discussed at
length in the group, or things that I am personally interested in. But I
am sure that there are plenty of others who have interesting topics that
they would like to see the group's opinion on; let's make this a group
effort like the signature dishes. When enough people contribute a survey
topic we might even be able to hold one on "who has come up with the
best survey of the month".

Beware! I have also discovered that it is not as easy as it looks to
include enough answer options to "please everyone".

Also, would any interested parties (preferably) send their topics to me
at the webmaster addy on the site?... because we don't want to "give too
much away" in advance ;)

I know someone who bought one of those kerosine pumps (used for filling a
kero heater) brand spaking new, was bleached and rinsed numerous times to
use just for that reason. She couldn't lift the pot (she was too short) so
she pumped out the liquid.
