Is that guy who does the Allstate commercials considered a celebrity? He should be, because he actually makes confidence radiate out from my TV and stick to my walls. When I get the money for that new Jeep, I'm actually going to check Allstates rates. I don't normally fall for crap I see on television, especially regarding anything like car insurance, but that guy has almost made a believer out of me. As for RR, she doesn't come across as the sort of person who would deliberately mislead you. Oprah almost has to be on that list too someplace. How could anybody not trust Oprah? I mean Christ, she wouldn't mislead you. If she says red onions are better than white ones who the hell is going to argue? |

I think Oprah was number four and James Earl Jones was number five.
Don't know who number three was. Not even sure of where the news got the list. Haven't Googled either....Mea Culpa <G> |

One of the most popular water cooler conversations seems to be how someone got a great rate on insurance but for some mysterious reason (with no claims filed) it must be raised substantially after the first year. Geiko seems to be one of the most common companies to do that sort of lowballing. |

I guess we should shop it again however. We had State Farm for many years and when we shopped it the quote from Travelers through the above link was about $1,000 dollars a year less. I don't like changing insurance companies but the longer you stay and with NO claims.. they screw you! |

I'm suppose I am too -- maybe there aren't as many RR haters in RFC as was thought. FWIW, I don't hate the gal, I just don't care to watch her shows. She might be a real peach in person. > I'm surprised Nancy2 hasn't said she mentioned it first, yesterday. > Hee hee. I'm not sure what we are trusting them with ... I guess to > tell the truth? Whatever. Odd survey. Exactly! We supposedly trust them to tell us the truth about the stuff they're shilling. Personally, I think it's a joke. Celebs are just folks and usually don't know any more about a tire or a beer or insurance than the next guy. They just look good and have nice voices. But there will always be segment of society that thinks being famous equals being a better human, um, being... -- "Little Malice" is Jani in WA ~ mom, Trollop, novice cook ~ |

No doubt, but the issue you raised below along with the fact that people make such judgements about people every day, not just celebrities, makes me wonder about him. See? Don't doubt it a bit, except for one thing. I don't trust Tom Hanks. Rachael Ray is usually pretty reliable, but at least once per show will come out with a total whopper. --Blair |

Been away for a few days. Didn't think this was going to get such a
response.... Another 2 cents worth. I have never really listened to *celebrity* endorsers, since they are *actors* (usually) being paid to sell us something. This goes doubly so for *sports* endorsers!!! Most (not all) really don't know anything about what they're endorsing. Just a paycheck for them and an added expense to whatever they are shilling. Just thought it was interesting about the top five.... |
