I was really disappointed to hear that a full service truck stop off of
I5 in the PNW is going to have an Arbys instead of a diner of some kind. Usually, truck stops have diners that are known for chicken fried steak w/ lots of gravy, hash browns that fill your plate and eggs cooked just the way you like em. May not be to every ones taste but have to tell you that I was looking forward to a 24/7, country style, great price, mega food, diner a few blocks down the road when the mood struck. Nooooo..... they are going to have an Arbys!!! I have to ask.... if there is a truck stop that has full service and an Arbys or a full service operation with a good country diner a few miles either way (which there is)... where would you stop to eat or stay the night all else being equal? I know it's not important but I had my heart set on a great country breakfast or dinner now and then at the local stop for about $4.95. Arby's.... shit!!! I mean that in the nicest way, Sincerely, Helen |

I've eaten at some truck stop diners where I wished it was an Arby's instead! Jack Steak-um |

In the very recent past, I've eaten at some very good ones and some very not good ones... Concidentally, I'm a southeast girl attending grad school in the west. It seems like the Arby's back home (Kentucky) tend to be a whole lot better than the one's out here... I wonder if perhaps they have different suppliers. For example, I know one fast food chain gets it's nuggets from two different manufacturers, and I'm thinking maybe this could be the case with Arby's. Until I moved out here, Arby's was my fav. fast food place... The food at the one's here just isn't nearly as tasty as what I get back home... |

We bypass them now. Maybe its regional but out west here they get a 'bye'from me. |

Nothing like it used to be. I would have rather gone to Hardee's which is slightly better. My choices though for "fast food" are limited to McDonalds, Hardees, Wendys, or Arby's. Wish we would get a Fazoli's here soon! |

Sigh, I have yet to find a place here that makes even something remotely similar (northern californai, sacramento area-ish). I've contemplated trying to smoke a pork roast on my grill. My other thought is to just wait it out until I'm home for thanksgiving... |

Interesting. My neck of the woods is far western kentucky/northwest tennessee, and the Arby's are far better than the Hardee's... In CA, Hardee's isn't a choice... It's "carls' jr" here, and they have no roast beef on the menu. And, I must be the only person on earth who categorically cannot bring themself to eat Fazoli's... |

I may just have to fire up the grill on very low heat and smoke a roast to pull. AFAIK, you just can't find it west of the Mississippi or north of St. Louis. Wayne |

I like the vinegar based cole slaw, and plain white bread. BOB |

I have a decent sized patio, but we're not supposed to even have grills... Of course, everyone seems to have one on their balcony or patio.. I figure it might might might work. I'd be doing a small pork roast--not a whole shoulder, so maybe... |

Carl's Jr. bought out Hardee's a couple years ago, and about a month ago the local Hardee's menu changed. They suddenly no longer have the sandwiches I preferred, and their supposed equivelent was awful. Part of the problem was the meat was different. It was somehow not as good as before. New supplier, I guess, but Hardee's lost a customer. I assume they are trying to unify the Carl's Jr. menu and Hardee's menu. Hardee's has been going downhill ever since they got bought out, I do know that for sure. > And, I must be the only person on earth who categorically cannot bring > themself to eat Fazoli's... I tried them once. Not worth the effort to go there. I have some friends who love Fazoli's, but I don't see why. They aren't terrible, just not all that good either. Bill Ranck Blacksburg, Va. |
