2 slices Sara Lee Whole Grain White, toasted
1 oz or so Trader Joe's Organic Maple Syrup, Dark Amber 1 TBSP Organic Butter Melt butter/syrup in microwave, then use brush to brush it all over the toasted bread. Uber Delicious, just like it probably was 250 years ago when the super-rich ate like this. |

I am going to shoot your arguments down point by point
1. 250 years ago, everybody ate whole wheat bread. White bread did not exist. The term "Whole Grain White" seems a bit ambiguous. Late on, white bread became a symbol of affluence. 2. All maple syrup was by default, organic. What possible additives were available? At this time, maple sugar products were probably a lot cheaper than sugar especially in Eastern North America where the sugar maples grow. Honey would have been widely available and could have been substituted for maple syrup. 3. Ditto for the butter. Every family had a cow or knew someone who owned one. THIS WAS COMMON PEASANT FARE. One did not need to be rich to eat like this. In my case, I have everything on your menu except the butter. Farmer John |
