I checked out behind a woman at the Super WalMart (I was buying a little
carrier for the cat I'm taking to the vet and then on to a no-kill shelter
later today). She had all sorts of chips, dips, bags of cheese puffs and
microwave popcorn... and a tub of Smart Balance, which is allegedly a
cholesterol-lowering butter substitue. I wonder, on what did she plan to
spread this stuff ?

Once I bought a pregnancy test and a case of beer at the same time. I
wondered what they thought of me (beer was for husband and friends that were
over; pregancy test was for me - ended up being negative, lol.).

Too funny.

When I buy an assortment of stuff that might result in raised eyebrows,
I blame it on my "co-workers." Several big bags of candy, bags of
chips - you know, that kind of stuff - I say, "It's really hard to keep
my office staff happy." LOL.

Heh, think that would work when I bought a large package of
toilet paper and Drano?

No, you blame it on "tenants." As in, "You know, I think my tenants
must have been born in a barn." ;-)

Perhaps the snack foods were for her family and the margarine was for

No, that was funny, I did need Drano for the tub, and remembered
I needed tp. Just a coincidence. I was laughing thinking the people
on line behind me didn't want to get too close.

Yes, it is funny. I often wonder if disparate items make other shoppers
wonder what you're going to do with them. Speaking of Draino, I remember
once buying a can of it along with a box of chocolates.

Bars have those signs that say...consuming liquor can cause birth
defects in pregnant women........which is true.

They should continue and say...that consuming liquor has CAUSED
pregnancy.

just not willing to have other people judge by what they see. ;-)

What about tampons? (sorry). No real reason to be embarrassed- most
gals use em, but I hate buying them. Always seems to be the only thing
I need at the time- gotta find other stuff to throw in so I don't look
like I'm in need of them that desperately- usually salt/candy. PMS

Had to laugh reading your post remembering my experience many years ago
-1983- when I wanted something different to read @ nite than the usual.

I went to our local drug store which had a good selection of paperbacks
and saw the story of teenager Richard Kasso from Long Island New York
who was involved in the occult/ stabbed to death a friend of his over
drug money owed then ending up hanging himself in jail.

Having heard about this kid on TV thought yep this is different reading
material and bought the paperback.
A teenage girl was working the checkout and being more than a little
curious she checked out the title Say You Love Satan.

The look this girl gave me I thought she was going to drop the paperback
so I told her I was doing research for local community college class on
teens and the occult but she stared me down till I left the store &
being a small town with the only near by drugstore she seem to avoid me
next few times I came in to shop.

Reminds me of the time 20 years ago my husband and I worked for the
same company (in the same office but different departments) and I sent
an email around asking if anyone had happened to tape a tv doco I want
to see. I cant remember what it was exactly but it did have something
to do with a wife killing her husband. Evidently many co workers
rushed to my husband to warn him something sinister might be planned
for him LOL.
I honestly can't recall why I wanted to watch this doco - may be it
was a local case or something at the time.....

I commented a few months ago on two HUGE women (mother and daugther?) with cases of
pop, bags and bags of potato chips and other junk food snacks, chocolate bars.

Did I judge them on what I saw in their carts? Not really? If they hadn't been such
fat pigs I might had assumed that they were preparing for a party. It was pretty
obvious, I thought, that they had reached epic proportions by overindulging in that
stuff.
