You'll do better than just try, mister. I've got a bowl full of raw
onions and a cabinet full of various beans and legumes, and I'm not
afraid to use 'em! Potatoes, too. And crab legs. All of which will
make you rue the day you were born. Don't be messin' with me.

Crab legs make you fart???!!! LOL!!! :-)

Onions do it for me.
I could tell you a funny story about living in the Barracks and guys who
came into my room to 'drop their guts' and me going home and ordering a
plate of baked onions for dinner......... and the fact that they *never
came into my room to fart again!!

Um, no. It isn't. It's native to Central and South America.

Not a bit of it. We assume that correspondents like yourself
would actually know something. And know that corn isn't
originally North American at all.

Too much to hope for, I see.

The humor in the first photo is that Cubbe rarely chooses to lie down in
the sewing room unless I have fabric squares laid out on the floor for
quilts. Then she chooses to lie on them like a cat would.

The humor in the second photo is that Cubbe frequently chooses to sleep
under the pull-out futon bed. Given her size and how low the futon is
to the floor, she has to scrunch down to get under there. Then you can
feel her hitting the bottom of the bed each time she turns over in the
night. If a dog were forced to occupy a space that small, it would be
cruelty, but she discovered her cubby-hole by herself and apparently
likes it for her den. I like the photo because you can see her
scrunching her way out. Her fur even brushes the wood of the frame.

I think all dogs want a cubby-hole of some sort; I have 2 and have had
2 others in the recent past... It's interesting that all 4 picked
completely different spots within the house. It's fun to watch them
choose.

Same litter, same father. Mother was a rat terrier - chihuahua mix
and father was a bichon. Scout's shaped like her mother, but small,
like her father (she weighs 15 pounds). Buddy is shaped like his
father, but is bigger than his mother (he weighs 30 pounds).

Buddy has a Winnie the Pooh personality. Very sweet and loving, and
dumb as a box of rocks. We call him Buddy-Roo. When he barks, it
sounds like, "Roo-roo-roo!"

Scout has the rat terrier personality. She steals and hoardes. We
fondly refer to her as the, "Opportunisitic Little Bitch."

LOL! Squirrel (aka Crack Kitty) was TINY then. And she loved playing
with that rotisserie. She was in there all of a minute and a half for
the picture. I also have a picture of her using a cake pan as a
litter box (the decision was ours, not hers),
http://i15.tinypic.com/3z0k9dv.jpg
and curling up in the wok in order to facilitate catching her tail.

She's a lot of help in the kitchen. <G>

I love that wok. I use it for everything. I do most of my deep

I've done that with really little kittens,

Naw, she's safe. When she's not climbing the draperies or racing
through the house at 40 MPH, she's a little sweetheart. She'll be 8
months old this coming Sunday. She's "Rocket" J. Squirrel.

LOL It's a hound dawg thang. :P Beau has a colorful history. Hubby
was on a camping trip in the Smokies and Beau wandered into his camp,
so starved you could count every bone in his body; he weighed 30 lbs.
at the time, now he weighs 65. He also had a really bad case of
sarcoptic mange and was covered with fleas and ticks. John shared his
dinner with the old guy and Beau stuck to him like glue for the rest
of his trip. When he packed up to come home, he told Beau to get in
the car and he did; he loves to ride in the car. <g> We've had him for
13 years now. No telling how old he really is; the best guess is that
he was between 1 and 2 when John found him. =)

I was kidding. That is a photo of Barry who sometimes posts here.

My bitch Tessa (Basenji Mix) is here (as a puppy):
http://groups.msn.com/idontmindsComp...hoto&PhotoID=7

and here (as an adult - she grew in to her ears):
http://groups.msn.com/idontmindsComp...oto&PhotoID=19

The other dog in the file is my beloved Border Collie mix, Tosh, who
died in 2005.

My last two dogs didn't take to dens. They wanted to be where the
humans were no matter what. They slept next to the bed, not under it.
I'd heard of fixing up crates for dogs but never took it seriously with
those two. Cubbe has a thing for enclosed spaces. Even before she
tried scrunching under the futon 10 days after we first got her home
from the
shelter, she was under the dining room table. With that in mind, I got
her a nice crate and figured she'd love it. We fixed it up with all the
trimmings-- a pillow, blanket, etc. She'd go in it for a few seconds
when we taught her to (i.e. rewarded her for doing so) but otherwise
ignored it. Now we use the crate for transporting her in the car.

I love labs too, but Cubbe isn't one. I don't have a picture of her
standing, but if you could see her back legs, you'd see that she almost
has to be half Chow Chow. A straight on picture of her face would show
that she looks like a bear cub (thus the name Cubbe), which is, again,
almost certainly Chow Chow. Her other half is something smaller, less
furry, and boxier shaped than a Chow, or maybe some hound given her
hunting abilities and hunting "bay" sound.

The picture of the futon doesn't show it accurately. It's one of those
fold out jobs where it can be a couch or a bed so the wooden piece that
you see is part of its structure. Once underneath and curled up, she
has about 4" clearance of her back to bottom of the futon.

I have two dogs now, have had three others on my own and my
family had several. Some dogs do like cubby holes. Others do
not. I hd two Labs who liked to When we are watching television
our Groenendal likes to nest in a corner behind a chair, but at
night he sleeps on the floor beside our bed. Our mutt likes to
sleep out in the open, preferably in the way. he usually places
himself strategically to block as many common paths as possible.
Hence, when we are cooking dinner he lies on the floor on the far
side of the kitchen, out of the way of the stove and the sink,
but blocking access to the table. My Labs tended to sleep under
the kitchen table. My parent's Lab used to squeeze under the
couch in their rec room, as did the Spaniel they had before that.
My Bouvier used to sleep just about anywhere.

I have a 16foot square kennel outside and a nice big dog house
that someone gave me. Of the five dogs I have had since I got
that thing, I have only seen one of them, the current mutt, even
go into it. He loves to be in his kennel. My Groenendahl hates
it. It is hard to get him in it, but I usually leave the gate
open because the mutt likes it so much that I only have to open
the door and tell him "kennel" and he runs out on his own. He
will come out once in a while to do his business but he goes
right back in on his own.

Thanks. Her's got her rescued from the Humane Society. I couldn't
say no to those huge ears and waggin' tail.

Ghengis was a darling puppy! I am guessing Maddie as a Sharpei mix...?

Okay, if the rest of you can do it so can I.
Actually its pics of my pussies (2) Purrinaby's
Gaoth Rua (pronounced GWEE RUE-UH, Irish for "wild
wind") and Velva's Vanity Fair (Lucy). Gaoth just
turned 12 and Lucy is 8. In case you can't tell
Gaoth is a Ruddy Abyssinian and Lucy is a Russian
Blue.
