LOL! One of my cats is almost that bad. I often have to sit on the floor
with her while she eats.

I needed to do that with my oldest kitty for a while before she died. My
current case is a matter of stubbornness, however. She refuses to eat at
the time I feed her, and if she doesn't, the other cats will eat it before
she gets to it. Sometimes I have to pick her up and set her down in front
of her bowl. I think she's just spoiled and stubborn.

I've done that with all my companion animals.

My friend did that with her dear ancient kitty during her last days.
We were visiting when she crossed the rainbow bridge, and laid her to
rest in her favorite wooded glade.

<sad smile>

I held Corwyn's food for him to help him eat the last few days of his
life......

I have special quarters for elderly cats to protect them from the others
so they can eat.
I try to prolong their lives as long as I can...

Oddly enough, some of the older cats that had started to lose weight are
gaining it back now that I've switched canned foods from Friskies to 9
lives. They are all eating more.

That's a good thing. :-)

The really old ones get Fancy Feast or Meow Mix single serving and
individual dishes.

Jasmine is nearly 19 now and has no teeth and bad hips. She actually
lives in a very roomy Kennel most of the time as she does not get
around well, but she still snuggles and purrs! Athena is the next oldest
at 17 1/2. We just lost her sister Orchid about 3 weeks ago but Athena
is doing well. We just guard her while she eats. Her teeth are fine tho'.

Kitties close to the end of their lives often quit eating cat food, but
will eat raw chicken or beef liver. I've hand fed it to them for their
comfort and to coax them to eat. Also finely chopped raw beef.
