Anyone watching 'Live At The Chapel'??

'Wolfmother' is on at the moment........

It's *very* hard to imagine that Andrew is my nephew.

I don't like his music, I don't like his hair. But he is the father to
my great-niece.

I just hope that he doesn't bring the other two to the family Christmas
get-together..... they may break into song and start trashing the
furniture!!

Greetings Peter...
Interesting story about Wolfmother... my dearest friend (on the GC) was
watching the Aussie Arias last month, channel 7 was having a
competition with the winner and a friend jetting off to Denmark for the
European MTV awards.
She opted for Wolfmother...
Got a phone call from PR gal on Monday morning... "Do you have a
current passport?"
"Yes!"
"Great - a limo will pick you up tomorrow morning... you're off to
Europe! YOU WON!"
10 days luxury trip to Copenhagen with her daughter. They had a blast!

Straddie - T minus 3 days and boy, am I counting!

and very pleased we can choose our friends... sadly not our family!

<blowing a mighty large raspberry at Peter L!>

Thank god for dial up connections is all I can say - though loading is
mind-numbingly slow....
Get back to Bris officially on 16th although we are making a one day
flying visit on the 2nd. Have to come back for a local award
ceremony... amazingly I got nominated! Go figure.

Had a brilliant trip over, checked in an hour & a half earlier than
expected which was nice. All unpacked by 1.30pm... had made two batches
of ice-cream by 5pm AND dinner.
God I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!!!!!!!!

Is the Pope Catholic? Of course I'm logging on... don't think I'd catch
up on the rfc antics after three weeks away... besides...might be some
lovely recipes to try out!

Too late she cried.... already down 3 bottles and it's only mid way
through day 3.
And not saying how many reds have disappeared either... but then there
are TWO of us quaffing.

Our local Ryan electorate MP gives out community recognition awards
around this time each year - blown me away to have been nominated (for
the community newspaper I put out each month)

> Many 'schoolies' left over there?

seemed to be an inordinate number yesterday, but then it was probably
just weekend trippers. Thank God it's Monday and they've all cleared
off to the mainland. Barely any schoolies around at present, positively
quiet.... just the way we like it.

Food so far:-
KI double brie Carr's tablewater biscuits & marinated olives afternoon
snack on Sat.
Zone Fresh thick beef snags on fresh bread & butter sarnies dinner Sat
night
3 batches ice cream (vanilla & 2 lots of coffee - made with Bickfords
Iced Coffee mixture which is surprisingly good)
Sunday brunch - short cut bacon & poached eggs, bread & butter & home
made cumquat marmalade
Sunday dinner - rather delish Beef Stroganoff with basmati
Monday brunch - banana sarnies (haven't skinned the leg ham yet...
probably tomorrow lunch - amazed I remembered the 'ham bag'!)
Dinner tonight will either be eye fillet & onion chutney or veal
schnitzel...time will tell.
dessert will definitely feature ice cream though... with maybe a mango
thrown in for good measure!

Are you up near the pub?

I stayed at a house about 20m from the pub, for about 2 weeks. Bliss!!

Well done :-)

I wouldn't have read your newspaper, because you're a Westie ;-P

Give it time....... you may get an influx of the southern schoolies yet :-)

*Drool*!!

Try the red onion chutney recipe I posted recently. *Everyone* who's tried
it loves it!!

And it only seems to work on Brie...... not as good on Camembert.

Although, it's equally as good on cold meat sandwiches :-)

Which reminds me, I have 4 in the fridge I'll have to puree and freeze for
the Mango Daiquiris :-)

Excuse me.... I resemble that remark...........

Anchorage - over the restaurant (now closed, which is a GOOD thing!)
but within walking distance. 'Tis in the midst of major remodeling,
although still trading through the construction process.

Great views. Great drinks. Abysmal food - very 'Coles Cafeteriaish' in
my opinion.
The Restaurant upstairs, now that's an entirely different matter...
haven't been up there yet (have enough booze to last at least till the
weekend... hehehe) so don't know if the private restaurant is still
operating. Will be a most amazing complex when finished.

> I stayed at a house about 20m from the pub, for about 2 weeks. Bliss!!

We're on Home beach.... no crowds...no 'flags' .... few tourists...
mostly locals. BLISS

Actually Straddie has an 'anti-schoolie' policy - I know, when my kids
were in Yr12 they wanted to schoolie over here and were told unless
they could find a private rental, they stood next to no chance as the
vast majority of agents/owners discouraged schoolie rentals.

here's my recipe:

finely sliced red/spanish/salad onion
100ml-200ml aged balsamic
1 tbls brown sugar (or raw, or caster)
2 cloves garlic, finely shredded
100ml-200ml cab sav or shiraz
1 finely chopped, deseeded chilli
generous knob of butter

saute onion & garlic till just soft
add balsamic, sugar and allow to caramelise a little
add chilli and fry until fragrant then add wine
Allow to simmer for around 15 minutes or untiil liquid has reduced to
about one third
Before serving (over steak) hot, add a generous dollop of butter and
blend.

Optional extra: couple of tblsps of tomato puree or generous tblsp
tomato paste

Decidedly yummy! Especially on the eye fillets we're having tonight
(also whipped up some fried rice to accompany)
