![]() I love hearts of palm in salads or as a snack. I saw a recipe months ago for a pie and finally made it two nights ago. It was weird but addictive. We chopped up the (unfortunately) dry pork chops last night and simmered them in bottled Q sauce and had it with onion rolls I made. The pie was better the second night and will be made next time I do "real" Q. Perfect mix. Pie http://i16.tinypic.com/2eb4rco.jpg Plated http://i17.tinypic.com/30hreyh.jpg Lou |

I've only had hearts of palm once a looonnng time ago when I was a kid, in a salad, I think. This did inspire me to want to try something along those lines but with artichoke hearts. By the way, looks great! |

Hearts of palm are not as sweet as artichoke hearts. The recipe I used had onion, tomato, parsley, garlic, hard cooked eggs and a chili. I actually did think about artichoke but I decided to see how it came out as per the recipe. It was also the first time I'd made my own crust. You can see from the picture I struggled with the top. I had to make it in a cast pan because we've moved everything to the new house and we're still stuck here in the old one cuz we can't sell the dang thing. Next time I think I'll use ramekins for individual pies. What ingredients would you use with the artichoke hearts? I'm thinking spinach, onion, tarragon and parmesan cheese. Any other ideas? >By the way, looks great! Well thank you. I'm happy someone noticed it. If you do the artichoke thing I'd love to see a picture too!! Lou |
