All through Europe eggs are sold at room temperature. As long as they
aren't cracked or contaminated, it's not a problem.

True, except that you must realize that Europe doesn't have the
Salmonella problem with eggs that we do. <sigh>

Sure they do. Google about bacterial growth and eggs. Find a lot of
UK, Irish and Euro sites.

The major differences is that Europeans aren't so scared of the table.

It did at one time. Measures were taken and contaminated flocks were
destroyed. It has improved although warnings are still given to pregnant
women and those with immune problems to avoid raw eggs.

What I miss is that the eggs sold in most UK supermarkets are stamped
with the date they were laid. Makes choosing fresh eggs much easier.

Because they don't have the same problems with chickens either. And when
they do, they slaughter all the chickens. Maybe that's why we continue
to have egg problems.
