Default Breakfast

Yesterday I made a breakfast that I posted about here befo Split an
Aidell's mango sausage lengthwise and pan-cooked it while I toasted a sesame
sandwich roll in the toaster oven. When both were ready, I put a slice of
papaya on the roll, gave a light drizzle of white vinegar, and added the
sausage. Then I quickly scrambled an egg and put it on top of the sausage.
'Twas nice, and my girlfriend liked it too (thereby confirming that I'm not
just imagining that it tastes good).

This morning I'm a bit apathetic. I think I'll make Cream of Wheat and
buttered toast, but the meal just seems a bit incomplete. Maybe a
soft-boiled egg? Hot cocoa? I dunno.

A scratch, a fart, and a look around, does me.

Then maybe a Long Black from Max.

Bob,

You think that's pathetic, I browned a pound of ground beef, drained, added a
can of "Manwich", kept warm in the stove. Next, cooked up a "Box of Blue"
Mac'n'Cheese and when complete, tossed in the manwich'd meat and mixed it all
up and served. With a tall glass of ice water.

!!!BURP!!!

You eat like a Man's Man, Andy. And that's just the kind of bypass you're
headed for!

(Just playing. I am one of those "you'll get my cheese when you pry it out
of
my cold dead hands" types myself. I am making chili for dinner tonight, with
three pounds of ground chuck and, of course, served with my ever-present
"sprinkle of sharp cheddar cheese." I feel certain that my second bypass op
will go much easier than my first will!)

All too bland. At least put some preserves on that toast!

Yesterday I started the New Year with a fancy breakfast - I made
craisin/pecan pancakes, fried eggs, and heated up a slice of brown
sugar ham...

Today I was lazy - a wholemeal roll with two slices of the ham for DH,
and a bowl of post date/pecan cereal with a sliced banana for me. It's
the only cereal I've found that tastes good (not like cardboard)
without being drowned in sugar.

Oh, ANDY! I'm worried for you, mate! ;-)

But if it makes you happy (and hopefully doesn't kill you), good on
you! Housemate Elle and I had french toast for brekkie this morning.
Haven't had french toast in an age! So good -- it'll be an age again
before I have it but I sure enjoyed it this morning!

TammyM, usually just does muesli for brek with the occasional
soft-boiled egg on the side

That mango sausage sounds yummy. I suppose it's a local
brand, wherever you are. I've never heard of it here in
Pgh. Maybe Whole Foods would have something similar. They
have a lot of unusual sausages. Tried one with chicken and
apple once that was very good.

www.aidells.com is the web site of the company which makes the sausages.
Looks like Giant Eagle is the store which carries them in Pittsburgh.

Thanks, Bob. They look a tad pricey but I may splurge
once in a while. I guess I've never seen them as I rarely
shop at Giant Eagle anymore.
