I'm OK with microwave popcorn that I pop, not the commercial bagged MW
popcorn. I do remember the foul wall-to-wall stink of a bag over-nuked!!!

Simple and fun survey. :-)

While I voted "yes" on both, I must admit that I can get tired of it
after awhile... I have a co-worker that has a passion for popcorn, but
it's better than that twice bedamned vanilla coffee smell!

And there is no getting rid of that stench!

Jess' burned some popcorn in the break room a few days ago, and tried to
get rid of the smell with some Jasmine room deodorant......

BIG mistake!

The supermarkets here have 20 different kinds of MW popcorn but only
one of plain bagged popcorn if they have it at all.

I can tell the difference in the smell and taste and make only real
popcorn at home. (MW is only for when I have a craving at work).

Does anyone else feel this way?

Through much testing I have determined that the best microwave popcorn
is the Act II brand regular butter version. The so-called gourmet
popcorns including the "brand name" popcorns all fall short. Various
"kettle corn" and "mega" whatever versions also suck. The Act II butter
has consistently high yield (typically <10 unpopped kernels in a bag),
good flavor and texture.

Depends on where you buy it. It's become obvious to me they make
different grades. The best seems to be Act II from Blockbuster. The
worst is undoubtedly Act II from Walmart. They sell it as cheap as 16
count for $3. Each bag is only about 2/3 the regular amount and the
quality is abysmal. Lotsa grannies.

Act II is what I usually purchase for microwave popcorn and I also get
good results.

Kettle corn is just plain NASTY, as is the new "hawaiian popcorn" with
seaweed bits.

It's reeeeely gross!

What _were_ they thinking?

Interesting, the case of Act II butter I got from Sam's (a.k.a. Walmart)
seems perfectly fine. Perhaps you got a bad or stale lot at Walmart?

Ewww.....WHY? And I agree about the kettle corn. I only like plain
salty. The cheese is gross also.

Quality, performance and taste depends on a lot of things. How fast
your store overturns the product and the competency of your microwave
are only two factors which would make a difference. I like American's

Multiple microwaves, stores, lots, brands, etc. and Act II butter always
comes out on top.

We use a microwave popper I bought at Target for $6 well over five years
ago. It does a great job and there are very few unpopped kernels and the
only smell is popcorn.

That was my question too. <G> I'm wondering if the marketing genius kept
his job. <G> It was GROSS!
