![]() Salutations, gentlefolk, Waybackwhen I was growing up and developing my perception of the comparative values of things, dry milk was really cheap stuff - something that the gummint gave away to the po' folks. Was thinking of getting some yesterday ( it's convenient to add to oatmeal - regular or instant - before cooking or reconstituting.). Went to local supermarket (suburban Philadelphia, Pa.). Price for 2-pound box - 10 '1-quart envelopes' - was 5.87 USD, or $2.36 per gallon, reconstituted. Price for gallon of fresh nonfat milk was 2.72. Not very frugal, considering trouble to reconstitute and taste of result. Wondering what caused change of relative prices. |
