At this moment, "love it" and "hate it" are tied at 22%. Me, I hate
it. It tasted like someone spilled perfume into a perfectly good cup
of tea.

I voted "hate it"...I don't like the flavor and it kills me with heartburn.

Hah, I wish I had remembered bergamot when I posted to the least
favorite herb thread.

Earl Grey tea tastes like the vile herbal concoctions my grandmother
used to try to feed me when my parents weren't home to "cure" what
turned out to be hard-to-diagnose chronic appendicitis.

Nasty, nasty, nasty.

I used to drink lots of Earl Grey when I made espresso and tea drinks but it
was so long ago I can't remember what it tasted like.

I don't really like tea but I can tolerate Japanese green tea
and also Earl Grey, both of them plain without additives like
sugar or milk of course. I'm not usually enthusiastic about
flavored teas or coffees but the Oil of Bergamot in Earl Grey is
pleasant and I also quite like cardamon in North Indian or
Afghan coffee.

Don't liek it as is, but in winter I do like a big hot cup with fairly
strong EG, provided it has sweetener and milk. I am sure that's how it was
intended

Tastes more like someone did it to bad tea. Which may
be the point of the adulteration. To hide the badness
of it. Anyone who did that to good tea should be
given instant coffee instead.

You're lucky! I drank it *once* a long time ago, and I *can* remember
it. Err... excuse me...

I once posted that Earl Grey reminded me of some unwashed whore's
perfumed tipple... nipple... whatever...

For the first time I had to choose "I can't answer this
question - my choice is not listed". I do drink tea, but I've
never had Earl Grey -- no particular reason, just haven't tried
it. And after reading some of the responses here, I don't think
I'll bother any time soon... ;-)

FWIW... I think Earl Grey is wonderful and it's my tea of choice.
The one I can't stand is Lapsang Souchong.

DITTO!!! Lapsang Souchong tastes like creosote to me!

I love Earl Gray's with a passion and drink it frequently, both hot and
iced.
