Default No baker is perfect

And that includes me of course. I was sorting out some blog posts and ran
across one that posted right before Thanksgiving and figured I would share
it. If you can't laugh at yourself, at least let strangers on Usenet.

I need my own Food Network Show

Okay let's establish three things up front:

1. I am not graceful typically.

2. Today has been a long one because I didn't sleep at all last night and
grabbed a 2 hour nap on the couch this afternoon so I may not be hitting on
all my available cylinders.

3. I am generally not afraid to share my idiocy with others so that they may
not have to repeat my "accidents" for themselves.

Now, that we got that down let's get on with why my cooking show on Food
Network would be the first one to frighten away the crew before the first
episode is finished filming.

I was in the kitchen a bit ago making the cream cheese filling for my
pumpkin roll. Looking at the really pretty smooth frosting in the mixing
bowl spinning around and around I thought 'that would make a really great
photo and post on my blog.' Until I went that one step further and decided
to improve on it. DUMMY DUMMY DUMMY DUMMY. I thought it looked a little
thinner than I prefer it and decided to add more powdered sugar. Instead of
simply reaching for the measuring cup currently sitting on the counter
beside the mixing bowl, I just picked up the plastic bag of powdered sugar
and proceeded to add that smidgen more in that I thought it needed. Ladies
and gentleman of the internets let's just realize that that the 2 seconds it
takes to reach for the cup are oh so worth it.

When powdered sugar hits the flying mixing beater on the pretty yellow
mixer, it will decorate your kitchen like someone opted to snow glue. Oh
holy dear Lord it was on me, the cabinets, the mixer, the countertop, and I
have now washed my hands to get the sticky off three times. My black shirt
has a grayish hue, and my socks are now in the dirty clothes basket, cause
yes indeedy the floor got decorated too.

My motto today, "When you think it needs a little something more, step back,
fold your hands in front of you and breathe deeply until the compulsion
passes."

Nothing says I love you like admitting you are wearing half of what you were
supposed be preparing for Thanksgiving. My poor mixer may never ever be the
same again.

Why didn't you just turn off the mixer first?

Idiocy would be my guess.
