That's a fillet of mahi mahi on a bed of orange-braised fennel with a
bit of sweet potato, roasted zuchini, and an heirloom tomato and
avocado salad.

Somebody commented about the plates. I got them at Target back before
the holidays. I believe this is the product:

I have some like that, which I use for serving appetizers, and things
like that. I have some square bowls too..which are for the same sort
of thing. Mostly I use all those for serving dishes.

However, I found mine at Dollar Tree, for $1 each.

I want a set of square black plates and bowls, but everything I've found so
far has a glossy black finish that scratches. I'd like a matte finish. If
anyone spots a set, clue me in, please!

I have a terrible time trying to photograph on white unless it has a
colored border, but yours are coming out very nice. :-) I guess you
have the lighting right.

My worst are my two white plastic mixing bowls. I'm learning not to use
those tho'.

I think most of my pics will be taken on those new hyooge red glass
plates I have, at least for now. I'll also be getting a black set. The
sparklies in the background help break up the black.

Christmas dinner 2006.
1/2 roast duck with a mango wine sauce that I screwed up, (tasted fine
but looks terrible, that won't happen again as I know what I did
wrong!), Wild rice cooked in duck stock, pureed butternut squash and a
mix of steamed baby veggies and asparagus tops with lemon butter.

That plate is a 13" glass "charger" that I bought in a set of 6 of. When
you are trying to serve 1/2 of a bird on a plate, regular dinner plates
are not large enough to do it right.

Glass chargers were $7.00 per plate at Wal-mart, but $16.00 each at
Hobby Lobby. <G>

I still want to spring for a set of 6 of the black.

Earth tone might work. I'll have to check our Asian stores. Thanks!

If you have a World Market (Cost Plus) near you, that's a good source
too.

If it works, I know we'll see the results on abf. :-)

I've been tempted myself, but I'd have to arrange for cabinet space. <G>
These glass chargers were bad enough as they are too wide for regular
cupboards. I had to make room in one of the Black and Decker plastic
pantry cabinets.
