Default zwiebel Kuchen (Onion Tart) from The Silver Palate Pantry Recipes

ZWIEBEL KUCHEN (Onion Tart) The Silver Palate Pantry Recipes

Cooking With Condiments

This makes a wonderful appetizer, or light luncheon, if served with a
crisp, green salad.

1 cup flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

2 Tablespoons butter, cut into pieces

5 to 6 Tablespoons milk

1 cup Silver Palate Onion Sherry Chutney

4 ounces sour cream

Preheat oven to 425 degrees. In food processor fitted with a steel
blade, mix four, baking powder and salt, using on/off pulses. Add
butter and mix until mixture is crumbly. Add milk and mix until
mixture forms a ball. Pat dough, or on a floured surface roll dough
out tot fit a 9" quiche pan. Spread with Onion Sherry Chutney and
cover with sour cream. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.

Serves 6.

It also goes extremely well with drinks. So much so, that you have to
make several of these tasty tarts.

Well, phooey! It sounds wonderful, but I'd have to get the Silver
Palate product first. Don't know that I've ever seen it hereabouts
(can't say I ever looked for it, though).

I had a lovely onion tart on a cruise ship in November -- and Cook's
Illustrated has a recipe for such a tart in this go's edition of the
mag. I am tempted to try it.

And I expected you to say it goes so well with drinks that you have to
have several -- drinks. Now, THAT I would expect of you, Lady Lush!

You really know how to hurt a friend. I feel as if I had just
sustained a mortal wound, right in my heart.

If you had carefully perused my post, all the way to the end, you
would have seen the following:

Sorry, Barbara, I did not look at your post closely enough. You did
see that I mentioned drinks. )

The little booklet is about 25 years old and something I received from
the Silver palate free of charge when I bought some stuff from them in
those days.

I did read it. It just didn't register until you called it again to my
attention. :-P Lush. '-)
