Mix with equivalent amount of canola oil. Blend until smooth refrigerate. Ba da bing. All set. Because of the oil, this mixture will soften MORE quickly than pure butter at room temp, so it can become hard to handle if you're trying to move some from the container to a frying pan, for instance. So, keep refrigerated. |

Use a tiny bit of butter for mouth feel and sprinkle Molly on. Great to use on veggies. Not as good as butter, but it is the best of the substitutes. Vickie Vickie |

You're not doing this to lose weight, I hope... you're trying to weigh like 500 pounds before you die in about a year, right? You have a severe eating disorder, get psychological counseling, STAT! |

(snip) Sheldon, you already know the "low carbing" thing means eating more protein, less or no carbs, i.e. meat, fat, legumes, beans and certain vegetables. (definitely not corn or peas, which are very carby). Absolutely no pasta, no bread, no potatoes, etc. There's no need to yell at rosie for asking about a better way to use less butter. I firmly believe in using real butter but not TONS of it ![]() A suggestion was given to use lard but then lard really only works (IMHO) if you're frying something. It sure doesn't taste good on vegetables! I'm not sure what rosie is using all that butter for. If she wants to pan fry or bake something like a piece of fish I'd recommend canola oil or olive oil (depends on the item being cooked). If the butter taste is essential you can find 0 carb butter blended with oil but then you have to read the labels... otherwise you get into the whole hydrogenated and trans fat debate. Will it never end?? LOL Jill |

The flavor's not the same of course, but we work around it with other things like big herbal and spice flavors. Also, I've taken to making my own demiglace the past couple of years. Demiglace in a sauce or another much reduced stock will offer a rich mouth feel with considerably less fat or even almost no fat at all. -- modom http://www.koyote.com/users/modom/home.html |

You can use it exactly as you do butter, and they also have shortening without trans fats as well. kimberly |

Use caution if you try it. I think you're confusing this with something else. My mom uses it for everything you'd use butter for without any problems. I use it quite often myself and have never had a problem. Perhaps you're thinking of Enova or that other oil substitute? kimberly |
