Default processed cheese loaves and the Super Bowl

I saw a story about the Super Bowl, and it mentioned that since
Chicago and Indianapolis are in the Super Bowl that "processed cheese
loaves" will fly off the shelf. Are they talking about Velveeta? Which
city would that appeal to? I figure Indy since Chicago would be too
sophisticated.

Chicago is just a bigger collection of people. Sophistication is
something you are taught at Ms. Randall's Charm School and ChainSaw
Repair.

You're joking, right? Like everyone who lives anywhere is either a
low-brow or a sophisticated person. Unlikely. (Sure sounds like
Velveeta to me.)

"Processed cheese loaves?"

I'm now imaging people sitting around gnawing on hunks of Velveeta
like it was baguette.

Anyway ...

Is Chicago all that sophisticated? (You've clearly never hung out
around the Greyhound bus terminal. )

Besides, aren't most Super Bowl parties inherently unsophisticated?

I live in Minnesota and I've known a lot of people who like to make a
cheese dip with Velveeta, ground beef and maybe green chiles or
something, for gatherings like a Super Bowl party. So maybe it's the
same in Chicago. Both Minnesota and Illinois are near Wisconsin, after
all, where I once saw a sign that read "Taxidermy and cheese."

Oh. I said elsewhere that I haven't had Velveeta in years, but I've of
course had that sort of dip at the work Christmas feed and such.

It's not bad at all, a crockpot full of that with some of the scooper
chips can be pretty addictive.

Not to mention that it has a half-life of forever.

I guess it has chili in it, too, since I usually hear it called chili
cheese dip.

I agree. And those smokies in barbecue sauce are usually a big hit,
too.

I love finger (or toothpick) food, whether it's sophisticated or
unsophisticated.

I must be doing something wrong. Mine gets moldy fairly quickly.

Not really. The appearance of sophistication may be because of the
wide variety of cultures here, but many other big cities have that
also. We've got people pushing carts passed the produce department
and other real food to head to the frozen section just like every
other town or city does.
