Recent microwaves are usually good for quickly defrosting without cooking.

You may want to consider making batches of stuff on the weekend or
whenever so you don't have to deal with it when you come home from work.
Stuff like chili, soups, etc freeze really well and you can just pull a
serving out of the freezer and nuke it.
