Philly Bans Trans Fats from Restaurants Philadelphia became one of the first cities in the country Thursday to ban partially hydrogenated oils from restaurants. The mayor and members of City Council signed the ban into law at a City Hall ceremony Thursday morning. It's aimed at keeping those artery clogging trans fats out of diners diets. Juan Ramos, of Philadelphia City Council, says “There's going to be a very intensive public education campaign not just for our citizens here but also to the restaurant industry which will include assisting them in identifying oils and other products.” The ban will go into effect on September first of this year for restaurants. Bakeries will have to be in compliance the year after that. ---------- Stupid Mayor John Street and his city council BUMS!!! Mayor, we don't need food police, we need firemen and real police. Andy Sucessfull Tourism Slogan: Visit New Jersey We've got your trans fats, baby!!!" |
