Default Sunday lunch..... Mexican

I was wet, and a bit cool, and we were taking #1 daughter to lunch. I
wanted Indian, but the SO and #1 outvoted me and we ended up at Montezumas.

http://www.montezumas.com.au/frame_intro.htm

We had a 1/2 serve of San Antonio to start with. Then for mains #1D got a
Carne combo (#7), the SO had #8 and I had #10......... I didn't see #9 at
the time otherwise I would have tried that one....... it may have had some
flavour.

For the most part, the food was bland. We ended up full, but unsatisfied.

The best part is #1D spent most of the night projectile vomiting etc :-)

Which means we won't be going back there again!! :-)

I told them we should have got Indian!!!

You need to call the restaurant manager and let them know.....

Hope she'll be ok!

Personally, I just cannot abide Indian food. I've tried and tried to
like it, but I don't care if I never go to another Indian restaurant.
The food is either bland and tasteless or hotter than hell.

I like chinese better than anything else when we go out. That or a good
steak house.

I personally don't think it was their food, unless she got a bad batch
and we didn't.

A good spew session will do wonders for her waistline, which as we all

You must have some pretty crappy Indian joints over there then......
because it's a real struggle to walk past them over here...... the
cooking smells, the fragrance of the spices they use, the garlic naans
cooking away in the Tandoor oven....... *YUM*!!!!

A good curry is my second favoutite food.

A good steak is my first favourite food, and Chinese/Asian is also my
second favourite :-)

Sounds like you either live in a lousy area for Indian restaurants or
haven't discovered where the good ones are located. Indian food has to
be one of the most aromatic and flavorful cuisines going.

Unfortunately it likely means it is just another cookie cutter clone
mediocre industrial restaurant. A similar concept chain opened up a few
locations in my area with the same hype that the owners of the original
place had such a great restaurant they had to franchise it. I have been
there a few times with friends and each time we agreed that it was lame
at best. It is hard to beat a good neighborhood taqueria for Mexican food.

Montezuma. Mexican. Restaurant.

Why, oh why don't I want to run (harrrr) over there for dinner.

Well, I _do_ like curry once in awhile. :-)
Guess I only like Indian when I cook it myself perhaps? <shrugs>

My thoughts exactly. Maybe, instead of Montezuma's Delight, they
should have a menu item "Montezuma's Revenge"? <VEG>

Most likely. ;-)

I'm semi-willing to give it another try...
There have been some good suggestions on Austin.food that I've not tried
yet. I'd have to be talked into it tho' <G>

The places in San Antonio that my sister dragged me to sucked, and they
were _horribly_ over-priced!

<lol>
There is a reason that tequila is popular in Mexico. ;-D
It's safer than the water...

I'd thought of that too but did not say anything.

Well done!

Licensed (fully) in this OZ context, means they are able serve/sell all
types of alcohol (beer,wine, spirits[=liquor]).

LOL!!!! You must have been listening in on my conversation at the
restaurant!!

I said *exactly* the same thing!!! I even joked with #1D that I was
going to get back at her by filling her glovebox with nachos, garlic
prawns, tomato sauce, rice and a couple of beers :-)

I seem to remember posting a photo of my pantry, with one shelf half
filled with jars of spices used specifically for Indian cooking :-)
