Default Separate Container

I might be missing something really simple, here (it's happened! <g>),
but I can't see it.

Perusing the label of a can of soup, today, I noticed the instruction to
store leftovers in the fridge in a seperate container. What's wrong
with sticking the sauce pan in there if there's room and it's likely
that you're going to be eating the rest soon?

What if you need to use the pot before you eat the soup?

The pot IS a separate container... the label is refering to a
container separate from the soup can. DUH!

That was covered by my qualification "you're going to be eating the rest
soon". That's why I made it. "Soon" meant "sooner than you'll need the
pan for something else."

You seem to be assuming a tin saucepan. That wasn't inherent in the
quesiton.

Sheldon's right ... cans of soup often say something like Do not
store leftover soup in the can. I don't think they are referring to
your pot at all. Just don't store the extra in the can.

Oh. Okay. Since the instructions have already had you take it *out* of
the can and put it in another vessel for cooking, I logically read
"separate" as meaning "separate" from what it's in (that cooking vessel)
when you need to store it. I'll just chalk it up to kind of
odd writing. Thanks for finishing the other answer.

I got what you were saying. But I know that's what they mean.
