Believe it or not, it isn't that bad when Coke is used as the liquid. I
haven't had this, but something similar. Not too much difference from the
pulled pork made with root beer.

I'd suggest using an oven roasting bag for this dish. I can picture the
soda drying permanently to the dish.

The above recipe seems a little sloppy at best. Here's what I might try...

Loosely based on:
http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Pot-Roa...il/Detail.aspx

Use a 3 lb. boneless chuck roast
Use 1 envelope of dry onion soup mix
Use 2 cans of condensed cream of mushroom soup
Use only 10 oz. of cola

Preheat oven to 325 F.

Place oven bag in a casserole dish big enough to fit the roast. Place meat
in the dish. Combine onion soup mix with condensed cream of mushroom soup
and cola and pour over meat and turn meat to coat. Optionally close the bag
snuggly to "coral" the mix close to the roast and tie closed (leaving a
tiny opening for any carbonation to escape). Cook at 325 F. for four hours
(optionally carefully turning the meat at the halfway point) and test for
doneness. Remove and let stand for ten minutes before serving.

I take the drippings and add a can of french onion soup and reheat in a
sauce pan for au jus.

(No, I will NOT repost that recipe!)

Holy shit, Andy, I was joking! Are you going to sit there and tell me that
(a) you've made this and (b) you liked it?

Whoa... here's a bonifide recipe of the cola pot roast...

Exactly. Not to mention the dry onion soup mix and canned cream of
mushroom soup. Why someone would waste perfectly good meat with an
abomination like that recipe is beyond me.

Well, with that many stars/reviews, not to mention your personal
recommendation, I think I'll spring it on my pot roast fans and see what
happens.

Old dogs ...

Similar here -- slow cooker country style ribs with Pepsi as the braising
liquid. It is acidic, and sugary. I usually use cider vinegar and
brown suger, but Pepsi/Coke really doesn't make a huge difference.
The Coke with lime might be pretty good.

Felice,

It sounded more like a challenge than a joke.

Next time you're "joking," say so in the original post so I wouldn't have
gone through the trouble!

I have had this where a raw ham is soaked in coca cola for 24 hours or
more and then cooked. Also at the same meal that was served at, there
were also what i believe were mustard greens "collards"? soaked in coca
cola for several hours before being cooked.

Yup. I cook my ham in Coke. The pan juices are delicious.

I like either ginger ale or 7 up on my ham.

You must be a die hard mac-n=cheese kinda chic.

When's the last time you even saw a veggie?
