Or something. It's still mixing, but making a metallic grinding noise
for half of every blade turn. Is it stripping gears, slipping a belt
or what? Do they need a periodic lube job? And will it get worse or
do I just live with the grinding noise? Only use it for mixing small
batches of pizza dough, so no great loss. I've got a mixer and there's
always the well method.

Mechanically curious!

I have an old Admiral w/dual paddles. It's noisy as hell. Always has
been, but it's never effected results. It's about 10 years old. We
have a newer Toastmaster that's much quieter but only has a single
paddle. I prefer the noisy one. I just use it in the laundry room so
the noise isn't a problem.
