Default HOT Lunch.

A year or so ago there was a thread here about ramen noodles and at the
time, I'd never tried them so I bought two packs and put them away.

I cooked them up today and added two whisked eggs and stirred it all up,
adding in only one of the two seasoning packets (Oriental ?? flavor). Then
as an afterthought I added a teaspoon of my hot mustard and stirred again.

It wasn't bad. The hot mustard added a great heat to it.

The noodles were spaghetti length which was my only criticism. I was
expecting chicken noodle soup length noodles.

I was enjoying it until I was chewing one twirled forkful of noodles when
my face began to flush, my nose began to run, my eyes began watering and my
mouth was on fire. It only took a second to realized the hot mustard hadn't
really dissolved in the pot and THAT forkful contained just about all of
it!!!

I got up and walked around as sweat began dripping out of my scalp and down
my neck.

Can't remember a heat like that EVER!

Now that I'm showered and lounging in the La-Z-Boy, feeling normal, my mind
is occupied with thoughts about a new batch of...

Break the "block" of noodles into 1 inch square-ish pieces before you cook
them. Much more manageable that way!

I must admit I'm a bit of a Ramen junkie. . .I don't admit that to too
many folks however! Often if I will put in a few leftover vegetables,
like carrots, bok choy, sliced zuchini, etc.

I don't mind the long noodles, I just twirl 'em up on a fork. . .I
think they are fun to eat! And at about 20 cents a pack, where can
you have that much fun, for so little money!

I need to try your hot mustard trick!

I've just recently had some ramen noodles. After the first try, I now make
every effort not to break up the noodles. They slurp better that way. ;o}

Wow! I've finally discovered a bargain in our grocery stores out here. I
can't pay more than 10 cents a package for the ramen noodles.

To my empty bowl I drip in some sesame oil and squirt in some sriracha
sauce. Then I'll pour in the cooked crunched noodles into it. That gives
any flavor a wonderful kick of flavor. If I have little strips of
chicken or pork, slivers of green onions, in they go, too.

When they are on sale for 12 or 14 for $1 I stock up buying by the
case. I use them for a lot of different things. Great way to get my
Grandkids to eat their veggies.

I use them when I don't have the energy to cook. Sometimes I don't even use
the seasoning packets and just use the noodles, making up my own broth.
(Veggies added, of course.) :~)

Isn't chin dripping an "if a tree falls in the woods" thing?
