Default Lemon?

Do you like lemon and/or lemon zest?

To my taste buds it always over-dominates the flavor of a dish.

It's OK in marinades or in cakes/pies or to add a tang to water or tea.

Never made sense over fish to me either.

You?

Love it. Never noticed it overly dominating anything.

You should use lemon in a way that's the exact opposite of your lard habit:
In moderation.

I really like the addition of lemon & lemon zest to soups, pastas, sauces.
But for some reason - dislike lemon with fish or tea.

Since being Greek lemon was/is a normal table condiment.

If you find lemon "overpowering" then you must have an overabundant supply of
sour sensors in your mouth.

Ergo I have come to the conclusion that you must be one of those people one
would call a, well, Sourpuss..

I use lemon in a lot of things. My marinates for pork, lamb, chicken and
shrimp are based on olive oil and lemon juice. I like it sprinkled on
fish and on schnitzel. I like to add a few drops of lemon juice to sautéed
mushrooms. I like soda water with a slice of lemon in it. I like lemon
meringue pie.

I suspect it's just a matter of taste. I like lemon on most fish
but "De Gustibus non est Disputandum!". Actually lemon juice
sometimes has other uses in that it removes slight "fishy" odors
from canned tuna. It's not a bad idea to pour a little onto the
fish and let it drain before making tuna salad.

Haha, that's funny. I love lemon in most things. Not all, for instance
someone I know decided to make a tomato sauce for pasta that
called for lemon. Didn't sound good to me, and it wasn't.

I love lemon desserts. I love lemon & chicken, and I dislike
fruit with meat for the most part. I love lemonade. Italian ice?
Give me the lemon.

And if you put it together with garlic! now you're tawkin.

James,

That sounds about strange enough to give it a try!

Thanks,

I imagine that must've smelled intoxicating!!!

I recall orange groves in bloom and was shocked by the overpowering aroma!

I can imagine, though my trip across northern Italy left me unimpressed. It
was the only country in western Europe I have no interest in returning to.
I was only there for a few days and had no meals that stunned me.

I make a lot of Greek salads in the summer, slices of onion and tomato,
green peppers and cucumber with Kalamata olives and lots of feta. I add a
little salt, pepper and marjaram and then drizzle some olive oil over the
top and then squeeze some lemon juice over it.

I generally squeeze lemon over fish. I grew up doing that. I love lemon
squeezed in iced tea. I hate lemon squeezed in ginger ale, but lime is
perfect for me squeezed ginger ale.
Overall, I'd miss lemons if they ceased to exist.

God, I love scotch. J&B works, but have developed a taste (not TIA, Shel)
for Clan MacGregor.

There are two ways of not appreciating scotch, one is to not appreciate
it and the other is to prefer it with lemon.

I love lemon and use it in a *lot* of my cooking. Also squeeze it over
seafood and other foods. I really wish I had a lemon tree in my yard.

Haha. No. I remember lots of strawberry shampoos. I was
going to say keep away from me with fruit scented shampoos
when I realized I use Aromatherapy shampoo from Bath & Body
Works ... Orange Ginger.

So I guess my hair smells like Chinese takeout. (laugh)

Relaxation. It was the hotel shampoo at Marriott in Las Vegas,
I tried it and I loved it. Now I buy it, or just steal it when I stay
at a Marriott. Amazing how long those little bottles last.
