One definition:

Walking in the door from a hard day at work and smelling fresh baked/baking
Tollhouse cookies.

Hate is when they're of a cookie sale or some such rot, and you can't have any!

Yours?

When I hear the garage door opening, I like to open the oven door for
a few seconds, or lift the lid on the pot, whichever's appropriate, so
my wife will smell the good smells when I open the kitchen door for
her.

Having my husband come home from work with a special goodie, usually some
form of seafood, a really good cheese, a decent loaf of bread or
asparagus-sometimes all of the above. When he does this, he's got this
giant, slap-happy grin on his face and makes a whole presentation out of it.
"A gift for my love...." He'll place the shopping bag down, open it up,
and proudly hand me each item saying, "For you." He always gives me
something I love to eat and it makes me feel good that he was thinking of
me. To me, that's love and romance. :~)

I can't believe someone baked cookies for an outside event and didn't
put aside even two for you. That's not love, it's betrayal.

Yep, he's a keeper! I got flowers, Phillips Maryland
Backfin Crab Cakes, wine and the freshest, most
wonderful chocolate cake for my birthday. BUT I
must admit, a flood of gifts and flowers from others
probably awakened his sense of competition, lol!
(He is not usually that demonstrative, heh heh.)

You win because unless it is my birthday, that never
happens. Bless you both.

And the other thing is: his birthday comes right after
mine!! So if he is especially good, he figures he will
clean up even more than usual!!

If you were my neighbor, Michael, I would bring over one of Henry Mitchell's
books on gardening. Might be "Essential Earthman" or "One Man's Garden".
Anyway, there's a chapter about gifts for gardeners. You'd love it. Bag of
manure, a roll of really good twine, stuff like that.

If you're one of the few remaining Americans with a library card, go find
his books. I think you'd really enjoy them. He was the garden writer for the
Washington Post. Each chapter is one of his newspaper columns, so they're
quick. But, the man was a friggin' genius.

Love is spending 15 minutes making sure one anchovie is made completely
invisible in a sauce where the taste is required, but the victim of the
dinner doesn't like anchovies.

Well said! Whatever the heck happened to Quality Control??? Good
grief! They could be selling inferior merchandise and not even realize
it!

YOU GOT BLACK FOREST MULCH!!

I would love that, especially if it came with a rent-free
strong back to spread it. That's goooooood stuff.

Henry Mitchell's books fit none of the categories you mentioned. I kid you
not - you will love his books. If I'm wrong, cyber**** will give you
$1000.00.

Hmm, fondling your PC is the first thing on your mind each morning...
no wonder marriage is doomed. All gals are the same... all they ever
think of is their bladder, they spend twelve hours each day empting
and the other twelve hours refilling. About once a month a gal will
do their mate a favor but first they need about an hour's tune-up...
and than just at that moment they all gotta go pee... twenty minutes
later thay return expecting to find a guy just as they left him. How
can it take twenty minutes to pee... easy when yoose sit on the throne
till your legs fall asleep, and now twiddling your Blackberry.

The ladies who are taking twenty minutes in your bathroom aren't peeing.
They're smoking crack.

Aww, how sweet! I wish my two got along so well.

My Lucy looks like a calico version of Miss Jilly - she has big black
patches on her side, and very little orange on the front of her face, so
she looks like a tuxedo from certain angles.

ObCatsAndFood: Lucy is very interested in people food. She seems
especially fond of beef and tapioca pudding (she gets to lick the bowl
when I finish).

Awwwwwwwww.

Love is coming home from a dinner-and-a-concert date with one of my
husbands, and finding that the other husband has cleaned the
kitchen, put the laundry away, aired out the matress, vacuumed the
bedroom floor, and put clean linens on the bed.

Before we started living together full-time, I was over James and
Carin's place on a worknight and spent the night. I had to get up
at 4 to make it to work on time. I figured I would just buy lunch
that day, because I didn't want to take the extra time to make it in
someone else's kitchen. I came out of the shower, and there was
James in the kitchen, bleary-eyed and naked, fixing me a tomato
sandwich to take to work (tomato sandwiches are my favorite).
