Can't believe it!
They blossomed overnight!!! Some heartier than others. Another wonderful sign of spring. Can ya cook them? Or just enjoy them? I think the Day Lilies are next. The rest of the sprouts are weeds. The ONLY things the deer don't eat. ![]() Reminds me (year after year) to sit shotgun on the roof and save the few puny Nantucket Hydrangeas in the front yard. The deer calmly wait until the blossoms are in fullest bloom then eat them. ![]() Andy |

Here in our bit of France they have been out for a couple of weeks. I
don't remember them staying in this condition for so long before tho, perhaps it's this crazy weather we are having S Andy wrote: > Can't believe it! > > They blossomed overnight!!! > > Some heartier than others. > > Another wonderful sign of spring. > > Can ya cook them? We had looked at it just after the blizzard of 77 and the snow was knee deep outside so we never saw the lawn or gardens. A few days after we moved in I looked outside and saw a garden full of daffodils. It was a pleasant surprise. I saw of daffodils yesterday. My wife and I sold them for the Cancer Society. We sold $214 worth of them between 9 am and noon. > > The rest of the sprouts are weeds. A friend of mine had a beautiful place on Vancouver Island and he and his wife loved gardening. The deer loved the results. He was forever coming up with new ways to keep the deer out, short of shooting them. |

To me, it is a gift from a friend, a picture of the first signs of spring with all the promises of the new and kinder season that is upon us. Thank you, Andy. ![]() |

Daffodils and Day Lilies. Day lilies are only a day or two of blooms. ![]() What's the point, almost!? Andy |

I grabbed some that were growing wild at a friend's place and now they are growing wild at my place. I have transplanted a bunch of them on a slope at the edge of my property more for ground cover than anything else. They grow in so thick that nothing else penetrates them. |

We used to have a whole area of daylilies growing wild. We never saw a bloom - the deer used to come out at night and eat all the buds which would have bloomed the next day. It went on so long that one day DH said "Dammit" and mowed all the lilies down. Take that, Bambi. Boy, they're a thrill to watch but a menace in the garden. Dora |
