Default miso

I need two Tablespoons of 'sweet white miso'

I can't find this on eBay or at the usual spice site I frequent.
Would the absence of these 2 TBS make much difference in a peanut dipping
sauce?

Try to find an Asian market for shiro (white fermented soybean paste).

Thai peanut sauce doesn't call for such a thing; shiro (white miso) is
Japanese, IIRC. Depending upon what you're going to use the peanut sauce
for (satay?) it may not be necessary at all to the sauce. YMMV.

In this case, yes, the miso is an important ingredient. Luckily, miso
lasts forever in your refrigerator so once you find it, you'll have it
on hand for as long as you need. Look for it in the refrigerator case
of Japanese groceries. It will come in a tub as margerine does or in a
plastic packet. You can also find it at a health food store or natural
foods market.

Here's what it looks like:

Yes, I was surprised to find how well miso keeps in a closed
container under ordinary refrigeration. It seems like a month or
two at least since I have always used it up without noticing any
problems. My major use is in salad dressings and miso soup.
