The FRITOS diet will likely not meet with your supervising doctor's

What? Not even if he's a blagger like you?

BTW, how many people have actually paid you the "donation" (advance
fee) for your Million Dollar Guarantee. Can you prove that anybody
has?

Somebody please reply to this so that Mr Tell-the-demon-to-pass-the-
ketchup can give me his reply.

If there were an Almighty God 'He' would hardly require proof would
he? !

Unless of course he is not almighty, or alternatively, an almighty all
embracing, very old - con !

GOD does not require proof but the man of lawlessness who thinks he is
god does (2 Thessalonians 2).

Thus, this proof is for you.

May GOD bless you.

The "REAL" "con" is that Satan, your father has you believing
that you are not controlled by him, and that he doesn't exist!

Indeed, brother.

Such is the law of 2 Thessalonians 2.

May GOD continue to heal our hearts with HIS living water so that we
can love our neighbors a little more and LORD Jesus Christ a whole lot
more, dear brother Melchezidek whom I love unconditionally.

See Father, I told you that my esteemed college would concur, but you
just had to get a second opinion. Stick with the regimen of 2 pounds of
cat meat a day, and your Multiple Sclerosis will be cured in no time.

Slight problem that's going to create a REAL headache for me
down at the shelter. Chung is interpreting the bible here, where
the chief unit of weight is not the Imperial / English pound, but
the "talent," equivalent to 75 lbs. That's 150 pounds of cat
meat, approximately 12 cats of average weight, or 80 kittens.

St. Jackanapes is a chimp. He's being punished by other members of
the chimpanzee band for not sharing his bananas. St. Jackanapes is
selfish. Bad St. Jackanapes. Moral rule: Chimps shouldn't be
selfish.

One of the strongest evidences for the existence of God is man's
unique moral nature. C.S. Lewis argues in Mere Christianity that
there is a persistent moral law that represents the ethical
foundation of all human cultures. This, he says, is evidence for
the God who is the author of the moral law.

Not everyone agrees. Scenarios like the one above have been offered
as evidence for rudimentary forms of morality among animals,
especially the "higher" primates like chimpanzees. This suggests
that morality in humans is not unique and can be explained by the
natural process of evolution without appeal to a divine Lawgiver.

This view of morality is one of the conclusions of the new science
of evolutionary psychology. Its adherents advance a simple premise:
The mind, just like every part of the physical body, is a product of
evolution. Everything about human personality--marital
relationships, parental love, friendships, dynamics among siblings,
social climbing, even office politics--can be explained by the
forces of neo-Darwinian evolution.

Even the moral threads that make up the fabric of society are the
product of natural selection. Morality can be reduced to chemical
relationships in the genes chosen by different evolutionary needs in
the physical environment. Love and hate; feelings of guilt and
remorse; gratitude and envy; even the virtues of kindness,
faithfulness, or self- control can all be explained mechanistically
through the cause and effect of chance genetic mutations and natural
selection.

One notable example of this challenge to the transcendent nature of
morality comes from the book The Moral Animal--Why We Are the Way We
A The New Science of Evolutionary Psychology, by Robert Wright.

How Morals Evolve

The Blind Moral-Maker

In his popular defense of evolution, The Blind Watchmaker, Richard
Dawkins acknowledges that the biological world looks designed, but
that this appearance is deceiving. The appearance of intelligent
order is really the result of the workings of natural selection.

Robert Wright holds the same view regarding man's psychological
features, including morality. The strongest evidence for this
analysis seems to be the explanatory power of the evolutionary
paradigm when dealing with moral conduct. The argument rests on the
nature of natural selection itself:

If within a species there is variation among individuals in their
hereditary traits, and some traits are more conducive to survival and
reproduction than others, then those traits will (obviously) become more
widespread within the population. The result (obviously) is that the
species' aggregate pool of hereditary traits changes.[1]

Wright argues from effect back to cause, asking what is the
simplest, most elegant solution adequate to explain the effects we
see. To Wright, the evolutionary explanation is "obvious." In
order to survive, animals must adapt to changing conditions. Through
the process of natural selection, naturalistic forces "choose"
certain behavior patterns that allow the species to continue to
exist. We call those patterns "morality."

Wired for Morality

The thesis that evolution explains all moral conduct requires that
such conduct be genetically determined. Morality rides on the
genes, as it were, and one generation passes on favorable morality
to the next. Wright sees a genetic connection with a whole range of
emotional capabilities. He talks about "genes inclining a male to
love his offspring,"[2] and romantic love that was not only invented
by evolution, but corrupted by it.[3] Consider these comments:

If a woman's "fidelity gene" (or her "infidelity gene") shapes her
behavior in a way that helps get copies of itself, into future
generations in large numbers, then that gene will by definition
flourish.[4] [emphasis in the original]

Beneath all the thoughts and feelings and temperamental differences
that marriage counselors spend their time sensitively assessing are
the stratagems of the genes--cold, hard equations composed of simple
variables.[5]

Some mothers have a genetic predisposition to love their children,
so the story goes, and this genetic predisposition to be loving is
favored by natural selection. Consequently, there are more women
who are "good" mothers.

What is the evidence, though, that moral virtues are genetic, a
random combination of molecules? Is the fundamental difference
between a Mother Teresa and a Hitler their chromosomal makeup? If
so, then how could we ever praise Mother Teresa? How could a man
like Adolph Hitler be truly guilty?

Wright offers no such empirical evidence. He seems to assume that
moral qualities are in the genes because he must; his paradigm will
not work otherwise.

Wright's Double-Standard

Morality Above Morality

In a public relations piece promoting his book, Robert Wright says,
"My hope is that people will use the knowledge [in this book] not
only to improve their lives--as a source of 'self-help'--but as
cause to treat other people more decently." [emphasis mine]

This statement captures a major flaw in Wright's analysis. His
entire thesis is that chance evolution exhausts what it means to be
moral. Morality is descriptive, a mere function of the environment
selecting patterns of behavior that assist and benefit the growth
and survival of the species. Yet he frequently lapses,
unconsciously making reference to a morality that seems to transcend
nature.

Take this comment as an example: "Human beings are a species
splendid in their array of moral equipment, tragic in their
propensity to misuse it, and pathetic in their constitutional
ignorance of the misuse."[6] [emphasis mine] Wright reflects on the
moral equipment randomly given to us by nature, and then bemoans our
immoral use of it with words like "tragic," "pathetic," and
"misuse."

He writes, "Go above and beyond the call of a smoothly functioning
conscience; help those who aren't likely to help you in return, and
do so when nobody's watching. This is one way to be a truly moral
animal."[7]

It's almost as if there are two categories of morality, nature's
morality and a transcendent standard used to judge nature's
morality. But where did this transcendent standard come from? It's
precisely this higher moral law that needs explaining. If
transcendent morality judges the "morality" that evolution is
responsible for, then it can't itself be accounted for by evolution.

Social Darwinism

Like many evolutionists, Wright recoils from social Darwinism. "To
say that something is 'natural' is not to say that it is good. There
is no reason to adopt natural selection's 'values' as our own."[8]
Just because nature exploits the weak, he argues, doesn't mean we
are morally obliged to do so.

Natural selection's indifference to the suffering of the weak is not
something we need to emulate. Nor should we care whether murder, robbery,
and rape are in some sense "natural." It is for us to decide how
abhorrent we find such things and how hard we want to fight them.[9]

Wright argues that the reductio ad absurdum argument from social
Darwinism is flawed. Though life is an unregulated state of nature
is, as 17th century English philosophy Thomas Hobbes described it,
"solitary, poor, nasty, brutish, and short,"[10] we're not required
to take the "survival of the fittest" as a moral guideline.

Evolutionists may be right when they argue that we're not compelled
to adopt the morality of evolution. The danger of social Darwinism,
though, is not that society is required to adopt the law of the
jungle, but that it is allowed to. The exploitation of the weak by
the strong is morally benign according to this view.

What Darwinists cannot do is give us a reason why we ought not
simply copy nature and destroy those who are weak, unpleasant,
costly, or just plain boring. If all moral options are legitimate,
then it's legitimate for the strong to rule the weak. No moral
restraints protect the weak, because moral restraints simply
wouldn't exist.

Monkey Morality

Recent studies have attempted to show that animals exhibit
rudimentary moral behavior. In one case, a group of chimpanzees
"punished" one "selfish" member of their band by withholding food
from it. Apparently, the moral rule was this: Chimps shouldn't be
selfish.

Conduct, Motive, and Intent

There are some problems with this assessment. First of all, drawing
conclusions about animal morality simply from external behavior
reduces morality to conduct. Why should we accept that morality is
exhaustively described by behavior? True morality entails
non-behavioral elements, too, like intent and motive.

One can't infer actual moral obligations from the mere fact of a
chimp's conduct. One might talk descriptively about a chimp's
behavior, but no conclusion about morality follows from this. One
can observe that chimps in community share food, and when they do
they survive better. But you can't conclude from this that St.
Jackanapes, the chimp, ought to share his bananas, and if he
doesn't, then he's immoral because he hasn't contributed to the
survival of his community.

Further, in fixing blame, we distinguish between an act done by
accident and the very same act done on purpose. The behavior is the
same, but the intent is different. We don't usually blame people
for accidents: The boy didn't intend to trip the old lady.

We also give attention to the issue of motive. We withhold blame
even if the youngster tripped the old lady on purpose if the motive
is acceptable: He tripped her to keep her from running in front of
a train.

Motive and intent cannot be determined simply by looking at
behavior. In fact, some "good" behavior--giving to the poor, for
example--might turn out to be tainted if the motive and intent are
wrong: being thought well of with no concern for the recipient.
Indeed, it seems one can be immoral without any behavior at all,
e.g. plotting an evil deed that one never has the opportunity to
carry out.

Morality informs behavior, judging it either good or bad, but it's
not identical to behavior. Morality is something deeper than
habitual patterns of physical interaction. Therefore, one can't
draw conclusions about animal morality simply based on what he
observes in their conduct.

Morality: Explained or Denied?

This leads us to the second problem, which runs much deeper. When
morality is reduced to patterns of behavior chosen by natural
selection for its survival value, then morality is not explained;
it's denied. Wright admits as much. Regarding the conscience he
says:

The conscience doesn't make us feel bad the way hunger feels bad, or good
the way sex feels good. It makes us feel as if we have done something
that's wrong or something that's right. Guilty or not guilty. It is
amazing that a process as amoral and crassly pragmatic as natural
selection could design a mental organ that makes us feel as if we're in
touch with higher truth. Truly a shameless ploy.[11] [emphasis mine]

Evolutionists like Wright are ultimately forced to admit that what
we think is a "higher truth" of morality turns out to be a
"shameless ploy" of nature, a description of animal behavior
conditioned by the environment for survival. We've given that
conduct a label, they argue. We call it morality. But there is no
real right and wrong.

Does St. Jackanapes, the chimp, actually exhibit genuine moral
behavior? Does he understand the difference between right and wrong?
Does he make principled choices to do what's right? Is he worthy of
blame and punishment for doing wrong? Of course not, Wright says.
St. Jackanapes merely does in a primitive way what humans do in a
more sophisticated way. We respond according to our genetic
conditioning, a program "designed" by millions of years of
evolution.

The evolutionary approach is not an explanation of morality; it's a
denial of morality. It explains why we think moral truths exist
when, in fact, they don't.

Why Be a Good Boy Tomorrow?

This observation uncovers the most serious objection to the idea
that evolution is adequate to explain morality. There is one
question that can never be answered by any evolutionary assessment
of ethics. The question is this: Why ought I be moral tomorrow?

One of the distinctives of morality is its "oughtness," its moral
incumbency. Assessments of mere behavior, however, are descriptive
only. Since morality is essentially prescriptive--telling what
should be the case, as opposed to what is the case--and since all
evolutionary assessments of moral behavior are descriptive, then
evolution cannot account for the most important thing that needs to
be explained: morality's "oughtness."

The question that really needs to be answered is: "Why shouldn't
the chimp (or a human, for that matter) be selfish?" The
evolutionary answer might be that when we're selfish, we hurt the
group. That answer, though, presumes another moral value: We ought
to be concerned about the welfare of the group. Why should that
concern us? Answer: If the group doesn't survive, then the species
doesn't survive. But why should I care about the survival of the
species?

Here's the problem. All of these responses meant to explain
morality ultimately depend on some prior moral notion to hold them
together. It's going to be hard to explain, on an evolutionary view
of things why I should not be selfish, or steal, or rape, or even
kill tomorrow without smuggling morality into the answer.

The evolutionary explanation disembowels morality, reducing it to
mere descriptions of conduct. The best the Darwinist explanation
can do--if it succeeds at all--is explain past behavior. It cannot
inform future behavior. The essence of morality, though, is not
description, but prescription.

Evolution may be an explanation for the existence of conduct we
choose to call moral, but it gives no explanation why I should obey
any moral rules in the future. If one countered that we have a
moral obligation to evolve, then the game would be up, because if we
have moral obligations prior to evolution, then evolution itself
can't be their source.

Evolutionists Are Wrong about Ethics

Darwinists opt for an evolutionary explanation for morality without
sufficient justification. In order to make their naturalistic
explanation work, "morality" must reside in the genes. "Good,"
beneficial tendencies can then be chosen by natural selection.
Nature, through the mechanics of genetic chemistry, cultivates
behaviors we call morality.

This creates two problems. First, evolution doesn't explain what
it's meant to explain. It can only account for preprogrammed
behavior, which doesn't qualify as morality. Moral choices, by
their nature, are made by free agents, not dictated by internal
mechanics.

Secondly, the Darwinist explanation reduces morality to mere
descriptions of behavior. The morality that evolution needs to
account for, however, entails much more than conduct. Minimally, it
involves motive and intent as well. Both are non-physical elements
which can't, even in principle, evolve in a Darwinian sense.

Further, this assessment of morality, being descriptive only,
ignores the most fundamental moral question of all: Why should I be
moral tomorrow? Evolution cannot answer that question. It can only
attempt to describe why humans acted in a certain way in the past.
Morality dictates what future behavior ought to be.

Evolution does not explain morality. St. Jackanapes is not a bad
chimp, he's just a chimp. No moral rules apply to him. Eat the
banana, St. Jackanapes.

"The best way to drive out the devil, if he will
not yield to texts of Scripture, is to jeer and
flout him, for he cannot bear scorn."

The Lost Hope of Larry Jackowski

The promise of John 14:3, is on the eve of being fulfilled; the threefold
summons of 1 Thess 4:16 will soon be heard; the wise and foolish virgins of
Matthew 25 are about to be eternally separated: in short, the Lord Jesus
Christ is coming again.

That promise, first falling from His own lips in John 14, formed the
substance of a special revelation given to Paul (1 Thess 4:15), and was
thrice repeated in the last message which a glorified Christ sent down to
His waiting Bride. Rev 22:7, 12, 20.

The Lord did not intend these words to be an empty sound, devoid of
meaning, power, or effect upon the hearts of His loved ones; they were
uttered to kindle there a responsive flame of joyous expectation. And this
was the effect upon the hearts of the early believers. The Lord's return
was to them a ``BLESSED HOPE.'' It was no visionary prospect, but a reality
which commanded their affections and could be seen expressed in their
everyday lives. They waited ``for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ'' (1
Cor 1:7); the waited for God's ``Son from heaven'' (1 Thess 1:10); They
``went forth to meet the Bridegroom.''

It was this that made them practically a heavenly people. Links with earth
were broken; connections with the world were severed. Earth's wealth and
splendor, its gilded attractions, all its bewitching sorceries, have lost
their charm and power over a man who knows the Lord Jesus Christ as his
Savior, and who is continually expecting that Savior's voice to translate
him in a moment to endless glory. He is so dazzled by the bright visions
which pass before `faith's transpiercing eye,' that this world's glory
seems dull and dim. So the early Christians were a separate and an
unworldly people. Their hearts had been touched by a Savior's love; they
knew that His precious blood had washed away all their sins, and their
whole souls were fired by the expectation of seeing His face and being with
Him and like Him forever. The language of their hearts was--

``Oh, worldly pomp and glory!
Your charms are spread in vain!
I've heard a sweeter story,
I've found a truer gain.
Where Christ a place prepareth,
There is my loved abode!
There shall I gaze on Jesus;
There shall I dwell with God!''

Their heavenly mindedness drew down upon them the scorn, contempt, and
violence of men. By their separation from the world they testified against
it that its deeds were evil, and the world hated, despised, and rejected
them, thus affording them the high honor of fellowship with their adorable
Master. They could afford to ``take it patiently'' knowing that His coming
drew nigh (James 5:7, 8), when the contradiction of sinners they had to
endure. Ah! The Lord's coming was not to them a doctrine, or a theory, but
a HOPE of strengthening, sanctifying, transforming power.

Satan sought by every means to quench their testimony. The fiery sword of
persecution was unsheathed against them with relentless severity, until
Satan found that the blood of the martyrs was the seed of the church, and
``the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and grew.'' So
when violence failed he tried corruption, and began to seduce the church by
offering her the very things which Jesus had refused--the world and its
glory.

Would she have them? Would she accept flattery and aggrandizement, at the
hands of the world, those very hands which were stained with the blood of
her rejected and murdered Lord? Alas! She forsook her first love. She laid
aside the gory crown of martyrdom and assumed the glittering tiara of
earthly grandeur and supremacy. As the world crept in, the hope of the
Lord's return died out. That hope which had burnt with such a vehement and
ardent flame gradually grew dim. The heart ceased to long for Him; the eye
eased to watch for Him. Solemn words, ``While the Bridegroom tarried, they
all slumbered and slept.'' A worldly church could not cherish the prospect
of the Lord's return. At the same time the glorious truths of eternal
redemption, the present forgiveness and justification of all believers and
their possession of eternal life in the knowledge of the true God and Jesus
Christ, His sent One, were obscured, perverted, or denied; so that all
certainty and assurance was taken even from those who were really the
children of God; and the thought of the Lord's coming became a terror for
the conscience rather than a delight for the heart.

The Lord's coming was referred to the end of the world, and invested with
ideas of terror and judgment, which plainly proves that the church had sunk
down to the level of the world. The world's guilty conscience can only
predict a day of certain judgment if Jesus comes again. But believers know,
or ought to know, that there is no judgment for them (John 5:24); Jesus has
borne their sins at His first coming, and has whispered the wonderful
love-secret into their ears that He is coming again to receive them unto
Himself, that where He is there they may be also. He is coming for us not
as a Judge, but as a Bridegroom--coming that He may have us where every
affection of His blessed heart can flow out unhinderedly upon us. How
strangely sad that such a hope should have been lost! Yet so it was for
more than fifteen hundred years.

Theologians wrote of the Lord's coming, it is true; but how did they write?
They wrote of His appearing as the Judge of quick and dead; of His solemn
session on the Great White Throne; of His dividing the sheep from the
goats; and they spoke of that day as being the time when we should know
whether we were saved or not; for they had not the present knowledge of
forgiveness of salvation which God gives in His word to all believers. See
Jn 5:24; Acts 13:38, 39; Col 1:12-14.

Jesus will appear as the Judge and every eye shall see Him; but this is not
the character of His coming for believers. Before He comes as the Judge to
the world, He will come as the Bridegroom to call away His saints. Hence we
find that when He appears publicly in glory and power, His saints appear
with Him. Col 3:4; Jude 14; Rev 19:8-14. His coming as the Bridegroom is
the Hope of the church, and this was lost sight of when the church became
worldly in the time of Constantine; and all through the dark ages of papal
supremacy, and even in the brighter days of the Reformation, it was never
recovered, and might truly be called

THE LOST HOPE
A little over a century age, God was pleased to restore many precious
truths from the obscurity into which they had been driven. Amongst others,
the full present knowledge and enjoyment of the forgiveness of sins, and
the possession of eternal life, were seen to be the portion of every
believer on the Lord Jesus Christ. The perfection of the atoning work of
the Son of God in clearing all believers from all their sins was
apprehended more fully than before. The fact that believers are seen of God
as dead and risen with Christ, and now by the Holy Spirit have power to
reckon themselves dead indeed unto sin, was discovered to be the secret of
liberty, and of a holy life. It was also seen that believers are indwelt by
the Holy Spirit, and thus united to Christ in glory as the members of His
body; then shone forth again that blessed Star of hope which had been
hidden so long by clouds of worldliness and unbelief. The Lost Hope began
to burn again in a few loyal and devoted hearts. The midnight cry began to
ring out--``Behold the Bridegroom; go ye out to meet Him.''

It was at once felt that conformity to the world's fashions, customs, and
conversation was inconsistent with The Hope; in fact, as it was cherished
it exerted its purifying effects (1 John 3:3) upon the hearth and lives of
those who had it, and they were marked by separation from the world, by
simplicity in life, and by godliness in conversation. Their watchword
seemed to be ``Let us watch and be sober.'' They were a holy, happy,
heavenly people.

Years passed on. From those in whose hearts the cry first sounded it went
forth to a sleeping church. What numbers of slumbering ones were aroused by
that cry! What a trimming of lamps; what a girding of loins ensued!
Thousands will have cause to bless God throughout eternity that it reached
their ears. Professors who had but an empty lamp, were led to obtain a
supply of the precious oil of which they were destitute; doubting believers
to rest in the finished work of Christ, and to rejoice in a known and
accomplished salvation; and many dear saints of God saw new glories in
Christ as the Head of His body, the Church. God was preparing the way for
the return of His Son.

Yes, a hundred years and more are passed and that ``blessed hope'' remains
unfulfilled. The Lord is still seated on His Father's throne, and His
people await the moment of His rising and descent into the air. Precious
and true as ever is His closing word--``Surely I come quickly!'' and He
looks for the fitting response--``Even so, come Lord Jesus.''

Can it be untimely or inappropriate to ask, is this the present attitude of
His bride? Alas! even yet many saints are actually ignorant of the fact
that ``the coming of the Lord draweth nigh''; while the scoffer asks
boldly, ``Where is the promise of his coming?'' On the other hand,
multitudes in Christendom have heard that Jesus is coming, and have been
convinced from Scripture of the truth of the doctrine. Some have heard that
midnight cry, and it has had the effect of causing them to go forth ``to
meet him''; hence, for more than a century small companies of believers
have gathered to His name, to remember Him who was once offered to bear
their sins, and who will appear the second time, apart from the question of
sin, to effect the salvation of the body; to these latter a few words are
now addressed.

Are you, beloved, WAITING and WATCHING? Is such the character which is
expressed by your lives? Very loth should we be to give up the doctrine of
the Lord's coming, but do we know the reality of it as a HOPE? Lest the
truth be faced and owned. Do our words, our ways, our surroundings bear
testimony to our profession that we have ``turned to God form idols to
serve the living and true God; and to wait for His Son from heaven''? Does
He who reads our hearts and discerns our secret thoughts know that we
dearly cherish this precious truth, possess in power this blessed HOPE, and
day by day eagerly await its fulfilment? Must we not confess that in many
cases where the truth of the Lord's coming is held, it fails to detach the
heart from the world, to separate it from earthly things, and connect it
with brighter things above? Surely in such cases, though the truth is held,

THE HOPE IS LOST.
For aught we know the Lord may come today. If so, in what state will He
find us? With what are our hearts taken up, and on what subjects are our
tongues moving? The Lord Himself? His unchanging love? His speedy return?
The Lord grant that we may be in a state

``Like that which was found in His people of old,
Who tasted His love, and whose hearth were on fire
While they waited, in patience, His face to behold.''

And what was the spiritual state of that ``people of old ''--THE Simeons
and Annas of that day? The Spirit of God tells us (Luke 2) that they were
``just and devout''; serving God ``with fastings and prayers night and
day''; speaking ``of Him to all them that looked for redemption in
Jerusalem''; men and women in the power and current of the Holy Spirit. Oh!
Saints of God, what course can we adopt other than to bow low before Him,
and own that we have lost the reality and freshness of ``that blessed
hope''; that we have allowed the things of earth to enter our hearts, and
frustrate its separating power; meanwhile praying that in His great mercy
He will revive again in our hearts, and restore in sanctifying power to our
souls, this most precious HOPE? Nor let us forget that cheering
word--``Blessed are those servants, whom the Lord, when he cometh shall
find watching: verily I say unto you, that he shall gird himself, and make
them to sit down to meat, and will come forth and serve them.''

Oh! Beloved saints, let us awake to the fact that He is just about to
return! Let us re-trim our lamps, if need be, again and again; let us ``be
fille with the Spirit,'' that we may possess, enjoy, and exhibit the
effects of this HOPE in living power; meanwhile seeking, in the power of
the same Spirit, to ``occupy'' till he come.

2:11 The next four verses form a beautiful vignette of our salvation. But in
admiring this literary gem, we must not divorce it from its setting. Paul has been
urging consistent behavior on all members of the family of God. Now he shows
that one of the great purposes of our salvation is to produce lives of
unadulterated holiness.

For the grace of God ... has appeared. Here the grace of God is virtually
synonymous with the Son of God. God's grace appeared when the Lord Jesus
visited our planet and especially when He gave Himself for our sins. He
appeared for the salvation of all men. His substitutionary work is sufficient for the
redemption of all. A bona fide offer of pardon and forgiveness is made to all. But
only those who truly receive Him as Lord and Savior are saved. There is no
suggestion here or elsewhere in the Bible that everyone will be saved at last.
Universal salvation is a lie of the devil.

2:12 The same grace that saves us also trains us in the school of holiness. There
are "No-No's" in that school which we must learn to renounce. The first is
ungodliness, which means irreligion. The second is worldly lusts-not just sexual
sins, but also the lust for wealth, power, pleasure, fame, or anything else that is
essentially worldly.

On the positive side, grace teaches us to live soberly, righteously toward others,
and godly in the pure light of His presence. These are the virtues that should
characterize us in this world, where everything about us is going to be dissolved.
It is the place of our pilgrimage and not our final home.

2:13 While living as aliens in the world, we are inspired by a magnificent
hope-the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ. By
this are we to understand the Rapture, when Christ appears in glory to the
church and conveys it to heaven (1 Thess. 4:13-18)? Or does it refer to Christ's
coming to reign, when He appears in glory to the world, puts down His foes,
and sets up His kingdom (Rev. 19:11-16)? Basically we believe Paul is
speaking of the first-Christ's coming for His bride, the church. But whether it is
His coming as Bridegroom or as King, the believer should be prepared and
looking for His glorious arrival.

2:14 As we await His Return we never forget the purpose of His First Coming
and of His self-sacrifice. He gave Himself not only to save us from the guilt and
penalty of sin but to redeem us from every lawless deed. It would have been a
half-way salvation if the penalty of sin had been canceled but its dominion in our
lives was left unconquered.

He also gave Himself to purify for Himself His own special people. The 1611
King James quaintly? 4 says "a peculiar people." Too often we are a peculiar
people, but not in the way He intended! He didn't die to make us an odd or
strange people, but a people who belong to Him in a special way-not to the
world or to ourselves. And He gave Himself for us that we might be zealous for
good works. We should have enthusiasm to perform acts of kindness in His
name and for His glory. When we think of the zeal of men for sports, politics,
and business, we should be provoked to jealousy and inspired to good deeds.

2:15 These are things that Titus was commissioned to teach-every thing
discussed in the foregoing verses, and particularly the purposes of the Savior's
passion. He was to exhort or encourage the saints to lives of practical godliness
and to rebuke any who contradicted the apostolic teachings either by word or
by life. And he didn't have to be apologetic in carrying on a forceful ministry; let
him do it with all authority and boldness of the Holy Spirit. Let no one despise
you. Titus need have no qualms about his youth, his Gentile background, or any
natural disability. He was speaking the word of God, and this made all the
difference.

LOOKING FOR OUR LORD

A Topical Study of

Titus 2:11-13

Jesus spoke of the eye as being the light of the entire body (Matthew 6:22, 23).
And Paul tells us that we are to think on whatsoever things are true, honest, just,
pure, lovely, virtuous, praiseworthy, and of good report (Philippians 4:8). But
because our society no longer believes in the authority of the Bible, our culture
continues to crumble-which is exactly what Jesus said would happen.

And as it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of
man. They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage,
until the day that Noah entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed
them all. Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they
bought, they sold, they planted, they builded; but the same day that Lot went out
of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all.
Luke 17:26-29

Once we're saved, we need no one to tell us that, like Noah, we are to be those
who are different from the times in which we live, that we are to live soberly,
righteously, and godly. But here's the question for you and me: How? How can
we live soberly, righteously, and godly in a world full of iniquity? According to
our text, the answer is that we are to be looking for Jesus constantly.

You never drive so carefully as the day you discover your driver's license has
expired. So, too, we will live soberly, righteously, and godly when we
understand that because our culture is as it was in the days of Noah and as it
was in the days of Lot, time itself is nearly expired, and we must live very
carefully.

The apostle John knew this to be true..

Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall
be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall
see him as he is. And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even
as he is pure. 1 John 3:2, 3

Thinking the Lord could come back today will affect everything I do-how I
talk, what I watch, where I go. On the other hand, Jesus taught us that if you sit
here today, and even as I'm teaching, you're thinking, The Lord is not coming
back any time soon, that too will have a very real effect upon your life.

Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man
cometh. Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler
over his household, to give them meat in due season? Blessed is that servant,
whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing. Verily I say unto you, That he
shall make him ruler over all his goods. But and if that evil servant shall say in his
heart, My lord delayeth his coming; and shall begin to smite his fellowservants,
and to eat and drink with the drunken; the lord of that servant shall come in a
day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of, and shall
cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be
weeping and gnashing of teeth. Matthew 24:44-51

The Greek word translated "evil" is kakos and refers to that which was once
good but has gone bad-like a piece of fruit, or a musical instrument that was
once in tune but is now out of tune. Thus, Jesus is saying the once-good servant
became sour, slipped out of tune, because he said, "The Lord delays His
coming." And Jesus says the result of such a viewpoint is twofold.

Brutality

And he shall begin to smite his fellowservants.

He who doubts the nearness of the Lord's return will gossip about people, be
cynical toward people, and will be harsh with people. Whereas if he really
thought today could be the day the Lord comes back, he wouldn't scream at
people, find fault with people, or be bitter toward people. In short, he wouldn't
smite his fellow servants.

Carnality

..and to eat and drink with the drunken.

He who doubts the Lord's soon return will begin to eat and drink with the
drunkards. "It's party time," he'll say. "The Lord isn't coming back for a
while-probably not even in my lifetime-so let's party. I'll only go to church if
there's nothing else to do. I'll only study the Word if there's nothing on TV."

The servant who was once good and who has now gone bad is not one who
denies the coming of Christ. Rather, he's one who simply believes He's not
coming soon. In Exodus 32, we see an Old Testament parallel to the evil servant
parable..

And when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down out of the mount,
the people gathered themselves together unto Aaron, and said unto him, Up,
make us gods, which shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man that
brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him.
Exodus 32:1

The people became kakos. They went bad. Why? Because they thought Moses,
their leader, delayed his coming. The result? Exactly what Jesus said it would be:
Carnality when they danced around a golden calf and brutality when three
thousand of them were killed (Exodus 32:28).

The way to live godly, soberly, and righteously is to look for the blessed hope of
the coming of Jesus Christ in any given day. But what if He doesn't come that
day? You had a great day! You walked righteously, soberly, and godly. Your
family was blessed. Your heart was full. God's blessings were celebrated and
enjoyed because you lived looking for the blessed hope of His return.

The majority of us fail to look for the Lord's coming today not because we deny
its reality nor because we think it will be delayed chronologically, but because
we are afraid emotionally. "I see things falling apart, and I know the only solution
is for the Lord to come back. Yet when He comes back, I don't know where I
will stand. I love Him. I believe in Him. But I haven't done as much as I wanted
to for Him," we say.

If this is how you feel, there is good news for you in Luke 12..

Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching:
verily I say unto you, that he shall gird himself, and make them to sit down to
meat, and will come forth and serve them. Luke 12:37

Leaving the kids with a babysitter, my wife, Tammy, and I returned home a few
hours later.

"The kids did great," said the babysitter. "But the whole time you were gone,
Benjamin sat on the couch and looked out the window, just waiting for you guys
to come back."

Upon hearing this, I didn't say to three-year-old Benny, "What's the big idea
sitting on the couch looking for my coming?" Nor did I say, "Why weren't you in
the backyard raking the leaves and picking up after Sam?" Instead, I just took
him in my arms and gave him a great big hug because I knew how much he just
wanted to be with me.

The same is true of Jesus. To the one who says, "Life is good, but what I'm
really looking for and craving is You, Lord," He won't say, "Why didn't you do
more?" According to our text, He'll say, "Let's have lunch."

But I haven't been a very good person, you might be thinking. Join the club.
Like me, you may have done things you didn't want to do, said things you
shouldn't have said, gone where you shouldn't have gone. But the Lord still has
a place for you at His table. How do I know? Because of what I see in the life of
Joseph..

One of the clearest pictures of Jesus is seen in the person of Joseph-a man of
whom there is no recorded sin, a man who was betrayed by his brothers for
twenty pieces of silver, a man whose public "ministry" began at age thirty when
he became prime minister of Egypt, a man who took a Gentile bride. As his
brothers gathered before him, their hearts must have been filled with fear
concerning what they had done to him. Yet what does Joseph say?

But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring
to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive. Now therefore fear ye not: I
will nourish you, and your little ones. And he comforted them, and spake kindly
unto them. Genesis 50:20, 21

When Jesus comes, you will be as blown away and amazed as Joseph's
brothers were-amazed by how kind He is to you, by the comfort He shows to
you, by the meal He provides for you. But you can experience His love and
kindness, His grace and forgiveness even before then by simply watching for His
coming every day.

My desire and prayer is for us to be a people who look for the blessed
hope-the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. The lives of those who do will be
ordered and fruitful, righteous and godly. May we learn the lesson of Exodus
and listen to the parable of Jesus. May we live our lives looking for His coming,
knowing that in doing so, we will be blessed not only in that day, but in this day
as well.

[3]

2:11 "For" introduces Paul's full theological reason for requiring the conduct
above, why such conduct harmonizes with sound doctrine (v. 1).56 In short, it is
the proper response to God's grace. God has manifested His grace (unmerited
favor) in Christ and the gospel. This has resulted in two things: the possibility of
salvation for all and the actual salvation of all who believe in Christ (1 Tim. 2:4,
6; 4:10).

"In the Greek, 'has appeared' stand emphatically at the beginning, stressing the
manifestation of grace as a historical reality. The reference is to Christ's entire
earthly life-his birth, life, death, and resurrection. The verb epephane, from
which we derive our word 'epiphany,' means 'to become visible, make an
appearance,' and conveys the image of grace suddenly breaking in on our moral
darkness, like the rising sun. (It is used of the sun in Acts 27:20.) Men could
never have formed an adequate conception of that grace apart from its personal
manifestation in Christ, in his incarnation and atonement."57

2:12 When the Christian appreciates this grace it teaches him or her. It instructs
us negatively to deny ungodliness, the root problem, and worldly passions, the
manifestation of the root problem. These passions are the desires that
unbelievers find so appealing but which are not in harmony with God's character
and will, though they are typical of the world system. It instructs us positively to
live sensibly (Gr. sophronos; self-controlled inwardly, cf. vv. 2, 5, 6), righteously
(Gr. dikaios; morally upright outwardly), and godly (Gr. eusebos; reverently
upwardly) in this age.

2:13 The blessed hope of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ's appearing in
glory at the Rapture also motivates the sensitive Christian to honor God by his or
her behavior now.58 The Greek verb prosdechomenoi ("looking for") is in the
present tense indicating that this waiting should be our characteristic attitude,
always ready to welcome the returning Lord. We do not want to feel ashamed
when we meet Him face to face (1 John 2:28; 3:3). In the Greek text one article,
"the," introduces both "blessed hope" and "glorious appearing" suggesting that
Paul was viewing one event from two aspects. The blessed hope is the glorious
appearing of our Savior.

"In the New Testament hope does not indicate merely what is wished for but
what is assured."59

"In light of the concept of the imminent coming of Christ and the fact that the
New Testament does teach His imminent coming, we can conclude that the
Pretribulation Rapture view is the only view of the Rapture of the church that
comfortably fits the New Testament teaching of the imminent coming of Christ. It
is the only view that can honestly say that Christ could return at any moment,
because it alone teaches that Christ will come to rapture the church before the
70th week of Daniel 9 or the Tribulation period begins and that nothing else must
happen before His return."60

"Paul . . . does not ask us to look for the Tribulation, or the Antichrist, or for
persecution and martyrdom, or for death, but for the return of Christ. If any of
these events must precede the Rapture, then how can we help looking for them
rather than the Lord's coming? Such a view of the coming of the Lord can at
best only induce a very general interest in the 'blessed hope.'"61

"The unusual phrase 'the great God,' found only here in the New Testament, is
best accounted for as a Christological application of an Old Testament
description of God."62

In other words, Paul described the appearing and glory of one Person, our great
God and Savior Jesus Christ.63

2:14 Christ's intent in providing salvation for us was to buy our freedom from
slavery to sin and wickedness.

"First, the verb gave (and indeed the entire saying-who gave himself for us)
portrays Christ's death as a ritual offering made specifically to atone for sins
(Rom 4:25; 8:32; compare Gal 1:4). . . .

"Second, the note of willingness is emphasized, for it is said that he gave himself.
.. . .

"Third, the phrase for us reveals that this offering was both representative and
substitutionary."64

Christ's purpose was also to purify a people for Himself who are eager to do
what is right and good.

"When a royal visit is expected, everything is cleansed and decorated, and made
fit for the royal eye to see."65

"The highest and purest motivation for Christian behavior is not based on what
we can do for God but rather upon what God has done for us and yet will
do."66

To summarize this section (vv. 11-14), the grace of God should result in our
present commitment to deny what He detests and to pursue what He values. We
see God's grace in His past provision of salvation in Christ and the prospect of
Christ's future return to take us to be with Himself forever. The fact that so few
Christians make this commitment is disappointing, but it is true to life, and Jesus
Christ anticipated it (Luke 17:11-19).

Concluding charge 2:15

This last verse concludes the section of instructions to various groups in the
church (ch. 2). Paul urged Titus to teach, exhort, and reprove, in accord with
what the apostle had just revealed, with full authority since it was divine
revelation. He should let no one intimidate him because the truth was at stake.

"The minister's authority rests in the nature of his message; he is not raised
above the truth but the truth above him."67

[4]

The Basis for the Instructions (2:11-15)

God's grace provides the basis for such instructions. It has saved, and it teaches
by both telling what to do and by enabling one to act accordingly. The result is
that Christians are able to say "no" (v. 12a) to sin whether it be rebellion against
God ("ungodliness") or pursuit of sinful desires ("worldly passions"). God's
grace enables us here and now ("in this present age") to "live self-controlled,
upright, and godly lives." God's grace provides a future perspective as well. So
Christians eagerly wait for "the blessed hope," "the glorious appearing of our
great God and Savior, Jesus Christ." He is designated both as "Savior" and "our
great God" (elsewhere in the New Testament Jesus is specifically designated as
God in John 1:1; 20:28; Rom. 9.5; Heb. 1:8; 2 Pet. 1:1).

The basis for God's grace instructing and enabling us (Titus 2:11) is that Jesus
Christ "gave himself for us" (v. 14) with the express purpose "to redeem us from
all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to
do what is good." Because of Jesus' death, believers have been and continue to
be delivered from all kinds of sins and have been and continue to be transformed
into the purity and likeness of Christ as a special people of the holy God. Such
radical transformation is done so that they will be zealous for good deeds. This
teaching is so important that Paul urges Timothy to communicate it ("teach"), to
urge it ("encourage"), to "rebuke" any who resist or oppose it, to do all this
authoritatively ("with all authority"), and finally to not allow any undermining of
his ministry at this point (v. 15).

[5]

JUST SAY NO

We can do nothing to earn our salvation through any service we give or even by
living morally upright. However, once we have accepted God's salvation, his
grace makes ethical demands of us both outwardly and inwardly. Grace teaches
and enables us to say no outwardly to non-Christian activities and inwardly to
non-Christian desires. Some people talk as if they were hypnotized and helpless
victims of their own desires. But Christians are expected and enabled to just say
no.

Default Proof of LORD Almighty GOD: Pastorio died on April Fool's day and diabetic FR remains so very angry about this irrefutable fact.

As I've said before, your posts indicate not just mental problems, but also
serious character problems.

Living inside a fantasy like christianity makes you vulnerable and afraid of
truths that will break through the fantasies and lies. You react by chanting
and burrowing your head in the sand.

Also, it makes you hate and gloat over the misfortunes of people like Bob
P. - whose only offense was to investigate you and then post what he found.

Christinaity, like all religions and world view fantasies, is dangerous to
everyone - but especially dangerous to those who have existing mental
problems, like you Andrew.

Using your own words, tell us why "God does not require proof"?

You are a liar, and it has never been answered.

If you want to prove your gods, have them appear and prove their existence
and powers and let mankind know what they want.

Educate your weak ignorant mind:

Welcome to the EvilBible.com Web Site

This web site is designed to spread the vicious truth about the Bible.
For far too long priests and preachers have completely ignored the vicious
criminal acts that the Bible promotes. The so called “God” of the Bible
makes Osama Bin Laden look like a Boy Scout. This God, according to the
Bible, is directly responsible for many mass-murders, rapes, pillage,
plunder, slavery, child abuse and killing, not to mention the killing of
unborn children. I have included references to the Biblical passages, so
grab your Bible and follow along. You can also follow along with on-line
Bibles such as BibleStudyTools.net or SkepticsAnnotatedBible.com.

It always amazes me how many times this God orders the killing of
innocent people even after the Ten Commandments said “Thou shall not kill”.
For example, God kills 70,000 innocent people because David ordered a census
of the people (1 Chronicles 21). God also orders the destruction of 60
cities so that the Israelites can live there. He orders the killing of all
the men, women, and children of each city, and the looting of all of value
(Deuteronomy 3). He orders another attack and the killing of “all the
living creatures of the city: men and women, young, and old, as well as oxen
sheep, and asses” (Joshua 6). In Judges 21, He orders the murder of all the
people of Jabesh-gilead, except for the virgin girls who were taken to be
forcibly raped and married. When they wanted more virgins, God told them to
hide alongside the road and when they saw a girl they liked, kidnap her and
forcibly rape her and make her your wife! Just about every other page in
the Old Testament has God killing somebody! In 2 Kings 10:18-27, God orders
the murder of all the worshipers of a different god in their very own
church! In total God kills 371,186 people directly and orders another
1,862,265 people murdered.

The God of the Bible also allows slavery, including selling your own
daughter as a sex slave (Exodus 21:1-11), child abuse (Judges 11:29-40 and
Isaiah 13:16), and bashing babies against rocks (Hosea 13:16 & Psalms
137:9).

This type of criminal behavior should shock any moral person. Murder,
rape, pillage, plunder, slavery, and child abuse can not be justified by
saying that some god says it’s OK. If more people would actually sit down
and read the Bible there would be a lot more atheists like myself.

Jesus also promoted the idea that all men should castrate themselves to
go to heaven: "For there are eunuchs, that were so born from their mother's
womb: and there are eunuchs, that were made eunuchs by men: and there are
eunuchs, that made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven's sake. He
that is able to receive it, let him receive it." (Matthew 19:12 ASV) I
don't know why anyone would follow the teachings of someone who literally
tells all men to cut off their privates.

The God of the Bible also was a big fan of ritual human sacrifice and
animal sacrifice.

And just in case you are thinking that the evil and immoral laws of the
Old Testament are no longer in effect, perhaps you should read where Jesus
makes it perfectly clear: "It is easier for Heaven and Earth to pass away
than for the smallest part of the letter of the law to become invalid."
(Luke 16:17 NAB) There are many more quotes on this topic at my "Do Not
Ignore the Old Testament" web page.

I know that most Christians believe that God is a good and loving god,
and wants people to do good things. I believe that most people want to do
good things and behave morally. I also believe that many Christians haven’t
really read the Bible, or just read certain passages in church. This is
understandable, as the Bible is hard to read due to its archaic language and
obscure references. Also many priests and preachers don’t like to read
certain passages in the Bible because they present a message of hate not
love.

If you follow the links on the left side of this page you will learn
about all the nasty things in the Bible that are usually not talked about by
priests and preachers. You can also discuss things related to this web site
or religion and atheism in general at the

(Matthew 7:6 NASB)

6 “?a?Do not give what is holy to dogs, and do not throw your pearls
before swine, or they will trample them under their feet, and turn and
tear you to pieces. [1]

7:6 Do not give what is holy to the dogs. This principle is why Jesus Himself
did not do miracles for unbelievers (13:58). This is to be done in respect
for what is holy, not merely out of contempt for the dogs and swine. Nothing
here contradicts the principle of 5:44. That verse governs personal dealings
with one’s enemies; this principle governs how one handles the gospel in the
face of those who hate the truth.[2]

7:6 Verse 6 proves that Jesus did not intend to forbid every kind of
judgment. He warned His disciples not to give holy things to dogs or to cast
.... pearls before swine. Under the Mosaic Law dogs and swine were unclean
animals and here the terms are used to depict wicked people. When we meet
vicious people who treat divine truths with utter contempt and respond to our
preaching of the claims of Christ with abuse and violence, we are not
obligated to continue to share the gospel with them. To press the matter only
brings increased condemnation to the offenders.

Needless to say, it requires spiritual perception to discern these people.
Perhaps that is why the next verses take up the subject of prayer, by which
we can ask for wisdom.

[3]

We have to determine who the dogs are and who the pigs are, don’t we? These
are not fourlegged animals He is talking about. We are not to give that which
is holy unto dogs or cast our pearls before swine; therefore, there is
ajudgment that we need to make.

There are certain times and places where it is not worthwhile to say a word.
This is a judgment you need to make. I remember a Tennessee legislator friend
of mine who was a heavy drinker. He was wonderfully converted and is a choice
servant of God today. The other members of the legislature knew how he drank.
Then they heard he “got religion,” as they called it. One day this fellow
took his seat in the legislature, and his fellow-members looked him over.
Finally, someone rose, addressed the chairman of the meeting and said, “I
make a motion that we hear a sermon from Deacon So-and-So.” Everyone laughed.
But my friend was equal to the occasion. He got to his feet and said, “I’m
sorry, I do not have anything to say. My Lord told me not to cast my pearls
before swine.” He sat down, and they never ridiculed him anymore.

A police inspector in the city of New York told me about certain apartments
which were filled with no one but homosexuals. He told me, “They know I’m a
Christian, and when they are brought into the station, they say to me,
‘Preach us a sermon!’ But I never cast my pearls before swine.” He looked at
me and said, “I guess you think I’m a little hardboiled, but I was a flatfoot
in that area, and I know those folk. I worked with them for years.”

May I say to you, there are swine and there are dogs in our society. What are
we to do? Jesus tells us that we are not to judge, and then He tells us we
are to judge. Well, He tells us in the next verse what we are to do.

[4]

To be effective in ministry, we must make judgments—not for condemnation, but
for identification. Is this person open? Is he sensitive? Is he hungering? Or
does he just want to argue and discuss endlessly? The Lord loves to see us
effective, and Satan would love to see us sidetracked. How do we know what is
wise in these matters? How can we know what we should do and where we should
invest our time? How does this work out practically? Jesus gives the answer
in the next verse.[5]

Judgment Day

Evangelist: Let me put it this way—are you ready for the
Judgment Day?

Store clerk: When will it be?
Evangelist: Could be today, could be tomorrow!
Store clerk: Well, when you know exactly, be sure to let me
know. My wife will probably want to go on both days.

==
(Matthew 7:20-23 NASB)

20 “So then, you will 1know them aby their fruits.
21 “aNot everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will
enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of
My Father who is in heaven will enter.
22 “aMany will say to Me on bthat day, ‘Lord, Lord,
did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast
out demons, and in Your name perform many 1miracles?’
23 “And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you;
aDEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS.’

7:19, 20 The destiny of the false prophets is to be thrown into
the fire. The doom of false teachers and prophets is “swift
destruction” (2 Pet. 2:1). They can be known by their fruits.
V. I Never Knew You (7:21–23)

7:21 The Lord Jesus next warns against people who falsely
profess to acknowledge Him as Savior, but have never been
converted. Not everyone who calls Jesus, “Lord, Lord,” shall
enter the kingdom of heaven. Only those who do the will of
God enter the kingdom. The first step in doing the will of God
is to believe on the Lord Jesus (John 6:29).

7:22, 23 On judgment day when unbelievers stand before
Christ (Rev. 20:11–15), many will remind Him that they
prophesied, or cast out demons, or performed many
wonders—all in His name. But their protestation will be in
vain. Jesus will declare to them that He never knew them or
acknowledged them as His own.
From these verses we learn that not all miracles are of divine
origin and that not all miracle workers are divinely accredited.
A miracle simply means that a supernatural power is at work.
That power may be divine or satanic. Satan may empower his
workers to cast out demons temporarily, in order to create
the illusion that the miracle is divine. He is not dividing his
kingdom against itself in such a case, but is plotting an even
worse invasion of demons in the future.

==

We are to recognize them by their fruits. That is what we are
to watch for in their lives.
Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into
the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father
which is in heaven [Matt. 7:21].
You can run around and mouth about living by the Golden
Rule, but the point is: Are you doing the will of the Father in
heaven? If you are doing His will, you’ll come to Christ,
recognizing that you need a Savior.
Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not
prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils?
and in thy name done many wonderful works?
And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart
from me, ye that work iniquity [Matt. 7:22–23].
Obviously these verses do not refer to believers today. Every
believer, living or dead, will be caught up to meet the Lord in
the air. None will hear the Lord say, “depart from me.” This
passage has particular reference to the Great Tribulation
period and the Millennium. This is the place to suggest that the
Sermon on the Mount will have a particular meaning for the
remnant during the Great Tribulation.

==

7:21 Not everyone who says … but he who does. The
barrenness of this sort of faith demonstrates its real character
(cf. v. 20)—the faith that says but does not do is really
unbelief. Jesus was not suggesting that works are meritorious
for salvation, but that true faith will not fail to produce the fruit
of good works. This is precisely the point of James 1:22–25;
2:26.

7:22 have we not prophesied … cast out demons … and
done many wonders. Note that far from being totally devoid
of works of any kind, these people were claiming to have
done some remarkable signs and wonders. In fact, their
whole confidence was in these works—further proof that
these works, spectacular as they might have appeared, could
not have been authentic. No one so bereft of genuine faith
could possibly produce true good works. A bad tree cannot
bear good fruit (v. 18).

7:23 lawlessness. All sin is lawlessness (1 John 3:4), i.e.,
rebellion against the law of God (cf. 13:41).

==

“It is hard for humans to conceive of how literal fire can bring
torture to nonphysical beings, but the reality of unbearable
pain inflicted on Satan is unquestionable. However the Bible
may speak of that future punishment—whether as the lake of
fire, outer darkness (Matt. 8:12; 22:13; 25:30), wailing and
gnashing of teeth (Matt. 8:12; 13:42, 50; 22:13; 24:51;
25:30; Luke 13:28), a never-dying worm and unquenchable
fire (Mark 9:48), or fire and brimstone—it presents a picture
of mental agony and corporeal suffering combined in
proportion to the guilt of those who have sinned (Luke
12:47–48) . . .”704

THE TWO FOUNDATIONS

Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and
doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his
house upon a rock:

And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds
blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was
founded upon a rock [Matt. 7:24–25].

If you have come to Christ, He is the foundation—“For other
foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus
Christ” (1 Cor. 3:11). When you are resting on Christ, you
can build on that foundation. By yielding to the Holy Spirit,
you can build a life which the Bible likens to gold, silver, and
precious stones.

But there is another kind of building—
And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth
them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his
house upon the sand:

And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds
blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the
fall of it [Matt. 7:26–27].

What is that sand? It is human goodness and human effort. It
is the old weakness of the flesh. My friend, I say to you that
you need something better than the flesh has to offer.
Matthew concludes this section by saying—
And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the
people were astonished at his doctrine:

For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the
scribes [Matt. 7:28–29].

Our Lord Jesus was that kind of teacher—He taught with
authority; He wasn’t just repeating something He had read.
And you and I need to recognize that we have nothing
worthwhile to say unless it is with the authority of the Word of
God and unless we believe it is the Word of God. I don’t
want to hear a man who gives me a string of theories, theories
which he himself has never tried and actually knows nothing
about. Today we have a gospel to give, a message of
salvation. We know it works because it has worked in our
case. And we have seen it work in the lives of others who
have come to Christ.

My friend, the Sermon on the Mount is a glorious passage of
Scripture. Don’t bypass it. If you read it aright, it will bring
you to the person of Jesus Christ. It will show you how you
fail to measure up to its precepts. It will show you that you
are weak and guilty. It will make you cry for mercy and will
bring you to the person of Christ for salvation. When you
accept Christ as Savior, He will give you the Holy Spirit who
will enable you to live on this high standard.

(Isaiah 23:1-23 NASB)
Judgment on the Earth

1 Behold, the LORD alays the earth waste, devastates
it, distorts its surface and scatters its inhabitants.
2 And the people will be like the priest, the servant like
his master, the maid like her mistress, the buyer like the
seller, the lender like the borrower, the acreditor like the
debtor.
3 The earth will be completely laid waste and
completely despoiled, for the LORD has spoken this
word.
4 The aearth mourns and withers, the world fades and
withers, the bexalted of the people of the earth fade away.
5 The earth is also apolluted 1by its inhabitants, for they
transgressed laws, violated statutes, bbroke the everlasting
covenant.
6 Therefore, a acurse devours the earth, and those who
live in it are held guilty. Therefore, the binhabitants of the
earth are burned, and few men are left.
7 The anew wine mourns,
The vine decays,
All the merry-hearted sigh.
8 The agaiety of tambourines ceases,
The noise of revelers stops,
The gaiety of the harp ceases.
9 They do not drink wine with song;
aStrong drink is bbitter to those who drink it.
10 The acity of chaos is broken down;
bEvery house is shut up so that none may enter.
11 There is an aoutcry in the streets concerning the
wine;
bAll joy 1turns to gloom.
The gaiety of the earth is banished.
12 Desolation is left in the city
And the agate is battered to ruins.
13 For athus it will be in the midst of the earth among
the peoples,
As the 1shaking of an olive tree,
As the gleanings when the grape harvest is over.
14 aThey raise their voices, they shout for joy;
They cry out from the 1west concerning the majesty of the
LORD.
15 Therefore aglorify the LORD in the 1east,
The bname of the LORD, the God of Israel,
In the 2ccoastlands of the sea.
16 From the aends of the earth we hear songs, “bGlory
to the Righteous One,”
But I say, “1cWoe to me! 1Woe to me! Alas for me!
The dtreacherous deal treacherously,
And the treacherous deal very treacherously.”
17 aTerror and pit and snare
1Confront you, O inhabitant of the earth.
18 Then it will be that he who flees the 1report of
disaster will fall into the pit,
And he who 2climbs out of the pit will be caught in the snare;
For the awindows 3above are opened, and the bfoundations
of the earth shake.
19 aThe earth is broken asunder,
The earth is bsplit through,
The earth is shaken violently.
20 The earth areels to and fro like a drunkard
And it totters like a 1shack,
For its btransgression is heavy upon it,
And it will fall, cnever to rise again.
21 So it will happen in that day,
That the LORD will apunish the host of 1heaven on high,
And the bkings of the earth on earth.
22 They will be gathered together
Like aprisoners in the 1dungeon,
And will be confined in prison;
And after many days they will bbe punished.
23 Then the amoon will be abashed and the sun
ashamed,
For the bLORD of hosts will reign on cMount Zion and in
Jerusalem,
And His glory will be before His elders.

24:1–23 On Judgment Day: Tottering like a tent. Having
warned several specific nations (see 13–23), Isaiah now
spoke in broader terms about God’s ultimate triumph over
evil

(24–25) and exaltation of Israel (see 26–27). He began
by describing a future time of universal suffering and
devastation
(24:1–13), sent by God because all humankind
had transgressed his laws

(24:5). A few will escape this
judgment, just as a few olives or grapes can be gleaned after
the harvest

(24:13), and they will rejoice (24:14–16; see
exposition on 10:20–23), but for most of humankind there will
be only judgment

(24:16–23). The earth will shake. It will
“stagger” like a “drunkard” and “tremble” like “a tent in a
storm”—clearly a description of the Tribulation.
Out of this terrible devastation, however, will come the
glorious light of Christ in his millennial kingdom

(24:23; see 60:19–20; Rev. 21:23; 22:5).
Because of its description of the Tribulation and Millennium,

24–27 is often called “Isaiah’s Apocalypse.” (Apocalypse is
Greek for “revelation”; the book of Revelation also describes
the Tribulation and Millennium.)

The Day of His Wrath

Revelation 6:17 For the great day of his wrath is come; and
who shall be able to stand?
The Great Day is a Judgment Day of evil angels
Jude 6 And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left
their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains
under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.
A battle is held on God’s Great Day
Revelation 16:14 For they are the spirits of devils, working
miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the
whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of
God Almighty.

The righteous are revealed on this day
Romans 2:5-11 But after thy hardness and impenitent heart
treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and
revelation of the righteous judgment of God; 6 Who will
render to every man according to his deeds: 7 To them who
by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour
and immortality, eternal life: 8 But unto them that are
contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey
unrighteousness, indignation and wrath, 9 Tribulation and
anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew
first, and also of the Gentile; 10 But glory, honour, and peace,
to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to
the Gentile: 11 For there is no respect of persons with God.
Wicked have reservations to this day

Job 21:30 That the wicked is reserved to the day of
destruction? they shall be brought forth to the day of wrath.
Riches mean nothing on that day

Proverbs 11:4 Riches profit not in the day of wrath: but
righteousness delivereth from death.

And if you have trouble digesting what Jesus said to the rich
young ruler, then his description of the judgment day will stick
in your throat.
It’s a prophetic picture of the final day: “Many will say to me
on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name,
and in your name drive out demons and perform many
miracles?’ ” 4
Astounding. These people are standing before the throne of
God and bragging about themselves. The great trumpet has
sounded, and they are still tooting their own horns. Rather
than sing his praises, they sing their own. Rather than worship
God, they read their résumés. When they should be
speechless, they speak. In the very aura of the King they
boast of self. What is worse—their arrogance or their
blindness?
You don’t impress the officials at NASA with a paper
airplane. You don’t boast about your crayon sketches in the
presence of Picasso. You don’t claim equality with Einstein
because you can write “H2O.”
And you don’t boast about your goodness in the presence of
the Perfect.
“Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from
me, you evildoers.’ ” 5
Mark it down. God does not save us because of what we’ve
done. Only a puny god could be bought with tithes. Only an
egotistical god would be impressed with our pain. Only a
temperamental god could be satisfied by sacrifices. Only a
heartless god would sell salvation to the highest bidders.
And only a great God does for his children what they can’t do
for themselves.
That is the message of Paul: “For what the law was powerless
to do … God did.”6
And that is the message of the first beatitude.
“Blessed are the poor in spirit ….”

JUDGMENT DAY
The apostle begins by pointing out that although the believers
had suffered persecution, this was not a sign that the judgment
day had already come. It will be just the opposite when that
day actually does come. Believers will be rewarded;
oppressors will be condemned (1). Further, the day of the
Lord could not possibly have arrived yet, because it would be
preceded by a falling away from the faith and the appearance
of the man of lawlessness (known also as the son of perdition,
the man of sin, or the antichrist). Although the antichrist will
lead many astray, he will be destroyed by Christ at his coming
(2).
The letter draws to a close with further thanksgiving and
admonitions concerning prayer, ungodly living, and
disobedience. There is also a greeting written in Paul’s own
handwriting.

==

The destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah is a frequent theme
throughout Scripture, both in the Old Testament
(e.g., Deut 29:23; Isa 13:19; Amos 4:11) and in the New Testament
(e.g., Matt 10:15; II Pet 2:6; Jude 7), being used in both
testaments to warn that unrighteousness is fearsomely judged
by God. Sodom is used to symbolize abject decadence
(Lam 4:6; Rom 9:29; Rev 11:8), and Sodom and Gomorrah epitomize
God's abhorrence of homosexuality and all sexual depravity.
As Scripture puts the narrative of these two cities to these purposes,
we must be instructed in these points. In fact, this point is made
in the narrative itself, for 18:19 states plainly that God involved
Abraham in this episode so that he would learn from it and teach
his descendants (including his spiritual descendants) that it is
necessary to ??do righteousness and justice? in order to escape
God's judgment. II Peter 2:6 is an inspired commentary on the reason
Scripture includes this narrative, for it states plainly that
Sodom and Gomorrah were made ??an example for those who would live
ungodly thereafter. This theme of judgment occurs many times in
Scripture, but nowhere more graciously than John 3:18, where the
means of attaining righteousness, and thereby avoiding judgment,
is also disclosed.

==

This event vividly displays God?s abhorrence and condemnation of
all sexual sin (Jer 23:14; Ezek 16:46?58), homosexuality (Jude 7),
and of blatant, rebellious sin (Isa 3:9). This is in harmony with
Leviticus 18 and 20:10?21 which state God?s absolute and unambiguous
position against licentiousness, incest, homosexuality, and sexual
aberrations. However, the passage is not all condemnatory in its
instruction, for it also reminds us that God will both rescue the
righteous and judge the unrighteous (II Pet 2:6?14). Jesus Christ
cited the punishment of Sodom and Gomorrah as an example of the
final judgment and a standard by which to gauge that judgment.

True and False Conversions

Overview: http://Bibleweb.Info/Bibleweb.Info-T...nversionsf.pdf

True and False Conversions (58 min) There is an entire industry built around
proving precious items - like diamonds and gold - to be authentic -
the "real thing". And, since the Bible says our faith is more precious than
gold, our Christianity should be tested to see if IT is real - or fake.
From a Bible teacher's perspective, this task is NOT a job for the
faint-hearted. So we again enlisted evangelist Ray Comfort, known
for his signature "pull-no punches" style. Using some important litmus tests,
Pastor Comfort helps all professing Christians who are willing...
to "examine themselves to see if they are in the faith".

Are We There Yet?

Heaven & Hell: Biblical Images of the Afterlife (1 hr)
- Are Heaven and Hell real places?
- Where are they located?
- What will they be like?
- And who is destined to spend eternity there?

Heaven & Hell examines the histories of both places. How did they
come to be? What events dictated their creation? What, if anything,
lies for us beyond the grave? As human beings we are drawn to these
same timeless questions. The Bibles view of the afterlife is
embraced by more people living today than any other generation in
history. Interviews with noted authors, scholars and theologians
including George H. Gallup, Jr. (George H. Gallup International
Institute, and author of Adventures in Immortality), Joni
Eareckson-Tada (author of Heaven: Your Real Home), and Dr. Larry
Poland (theologian, educator and author of 2084) will cast light on
the spiritual mysteries of Heaven and Hell. The video incorporates
dramatic recreations, art of the masters and leading edge computer
animation to present visual clues to the physical characteristics
of Heaven and Hell. Heaven & Hell will strengthen the faith of
those who believe and challenge the skepticism of those who doubt
the existence of either place.

George H. Gallup Jr. provides the statistics (53 percent of
Americans believe in Hell, 70 percent in Heaven), and two religious
authors and a priest provide the spiritual interpretation in this
exploration of the basis of belief in the afterlife. The video is
divided into segments on Revelation, Hell, and Heaven, and actors
read Biblical passages underlining the narration by Ed Ragozzino
and the scholarly input. Apostle John's dramatized visions of the
end of the world and the Second Coming, images of Hell (hint: fire
is involved), and an artist's depiction of the 1,500-square-mile
cube that would be the heavenly New Jerusalem bring the content
alive. Father Pompei of Philadelphia compares his parish
neighborhood to Hell, and author Joni Eareckson Tada (Heaven: Your
Real Home) movingly describes how she came to look forward to a
heavenly afterlife, and the new body she believes will come with
it, after an accident in her teens left her paralyzed from the neck
down. Author and theologian Dr. Larry Poland (2084) rounds out the
panel of experts. --Kimberly Heinrichs

Yeah, those very murderers that the Truth spoke about.

Now that would spoil His plan; wouldn't it now...

BTW, He did appear, and we all crucified him; for we didn't want to hear
the truth, plain and simple.

LOL.

So you can't do it.

That means he either never existed, or died, which means he wasn't a god in
the first place.

Go talk in tongues to yourself in mirror, idiot.
