Anything in the mint family will spread, including catnip. I cope by
making mint tea really often, and keeping the local kitties supplied
with their favorite mind-altering substance.

The mint family only spreads where it can put down roots in cool,
moist soil. My mom had quite a mint patch next to an old leaky well
that had a sunshade over it, but they never ventured out into the
sunshine and drier soil.
