Breakfast makes the world go 'round!!!

Leftovers, berightovers, popovers, hors d'oeuvres, all delightfully accepted!

Breakfast is gold.
Lunch is silver.
Dinner is lead.

I have been known to have biltong for breakfast LOL. Although I am a
"tea and toast person" usually.

But I like 'brunch' on weekends too - bacon, eggs, fried tomatoes,
sausage - you name it - YUM!

You did not include my staggered breakfast :-) I have a glass of
orange juice, go for a walk, and then have the rest of
breakfast: fruit, cold cereal (usually) and coffee almost
always.

LOL

You sound like DH.... well the cereal with fruit and coffee part - far
too early and 'healthy' for moi...

I need a cup of tea (as soon as I can open my eyes wide enough to find
the kitchen and then the kettle) - then I do the 'food' part a little
later - usually toast with "something on it". I like the 'brunch' thing
at weekends tho'.

BTW, I start planning dinner right after my tea

Or eggs in all their numerous forms.

Sometimes I make "Leftovers omelets".

I only have breakfast on weekends. Bombay Sapphire, tomato juice,
horseradish, and a stick of celery. The second glass is usually just
Bombay. That kills the hangover and I go back to bed.

Well, I only eat breakfast on the weekends or
if I'm travelling (mainly because I like to go
to diners and get a traditional sort of breakfast
like eggs, bacon, potatoes or pancakes, sausage,
etc.

Part of the reason I don't eat breakfast during
the week is having to go to work. Since I work
8:30 to 5 I have to get up fairly early. Not only
do I not want to get up any earlier than I have to
(which I would if I wanted to eat breakfast at home)
but I'm generally not hungry when I first get up.
I don't stop and get fast food on the way to work
because I don't want to spend the money. Also, if
I don't eat breakfast at home, not only do I get to
sleep longer but I save money by not having to buy
breakfast foods.

I also don't eat lunch at work unless there's some
function where I get a free lunch, which happens from
time to time. I don't want to spend the money to
buy myself lunch, plus it doesn't bother me to not
eat lunch when I haven't eaten breakfast. If I had
eaten breakfast I would be starving by lunch time.

So, on weekends I like to sleep as late as possible
so often breakfast is really brunch. Unfortunately
that is the case less often these days because as I
get older and have more aches and pains it is harder
to sleep in. Damn!!

As for what I eat, well, I'll eat anything - turkey,
gravy, and stuffing; eggs, hash browns, and bacon,
Chinese food, Mexican food, whatever. Although I'm
very fond of traditional breakfast fare I like everything
any time of the day. I sometimes eat cream of wheat
for a late night snack and have spaghetti for breakfast.
Whatever.

I suppose we could argue semantics for ever but a tomato is a
fruit that is treated as a vegetable. As a small child I liked
tomatoes with sugar (!) and mayonnaise. Isn't that horrible?

after 52 votes, either 21% don't eat breakfast, 8% don't eat breakfast,
or 12% don't eat breakfast depending on the question

no wonder I don't trust anything this group says

Actually, no. I like fried green tomatoes served with a dollop of mayo
and a dollop of ripe tomato jam, which I make myself because I cut
back the sugar and make it with ripe tomatoes out of the garden. It is
still a sweet jam, though.

I found the questions difficult because what I have for breakfast when
I'm at home is a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice and some
seasonal fruit. Before I stopped drinking coffee, all I had was a mug
or two of caffeine kickstart and a glass of OJ. And that would keep me
going just fine until lunch time - when I have breakfast.

I don't eat what most people would think of as breakfast until 12:30pm
or later (usually cereal or cooked oats with milk, yogurt, fruit,
honey).

If I'm not at home I eat a breakfast and lunch based on what I'm doing
or going to be doing and where I am. It could be a light breakfast or
full breakfast (eggs, hash browns, toast, baked beans, mushrooms,
tomato) followed by anything from a quick lunch or a full on pigfest
at a favourite restaurant

Thinking about it, if I'm at home my only normal meal of the day is
the dinner I share with my wife and the lunch or dinner parties we
give for family and friends.

Oh, man... I really had to put my thinking cap on to answer those
questions. They weren't worded the way I think about breakfast....
which is NOT the most important meal of the day for me. At least that
question was easy.

Well, Merriam-Webster defines breakfast as:

Main Entry: break·fast
Pronunciation: 'brek-f&st
Function: noun
1 : the first meal of the day especially when taken in the morning
2 : the food prepared for a breakfast <eat your breakfast>
- breakfast verb
- break·fast·er noun

i don't think so. a good tomato, sliced about 1/2 inch thick, spread
with mayonnaise, salt and pepper is great. too bad good tomatoes are
so hard to find. (note to you home gardeners: eat dirt and die.)

Words like "prefer" don't enter my weekday breakfast vocabulary.
Maybe I *do* "prefer", but I've done it a certain way for so long it's
hard to remember why I do it that way unless I do it the wrong way.
THEN I remember why I'm doing it one way and not the other.
