The Air Force did actively support smoking. During basic training, there
would be the call: "If you got 'em, smoke 'em." If you didn't have 'em, you had to continue working. By the second call, everybody had 'em. I smoked for over 20 years because of that. Fortunately I quit over 12 years ago. But still, that's a lot of ciggie-butts into my lungs because of the Air Force basic Training. Besides, anyone could have stopped anytime after basic. Besides, basic in the AF is the shortest wimpiest basic on the planet. I only did 24 days. We did the obstacle once and it was the only fun we had the whole time. nb |

I find Emeril to be one of the most annoying 'chefs' on the network. He
never really seems to know what he is doing and would probably die without a huge staff of people to keep him sort of pointed in the right direction. His yell of "BAM!" must be tied to the electrification of the seats of the audience. It certainly has nothing to do with cooking. And his audience is trained to yell and applaud when he says the words: "Garlic!" Or "Chiles." It is really rather silly. Food doesn't taste better because you've added a superabundance of something to it. No matter how showmanly you do it. It just tastes too hot or too garlicky. Or whatever. Rachel's half-hour meals are ok. But I hate her smug $40 a day meals. I know too many people who are lucky to have $40 a WEEK to live on. Watching her crow about how she can eat on $40 for a DAY just turns my stomach. Rachel's out there stuffing her face at the rate of at least $280 a week I know people who have to live on less than $800 a MONTH! Rent, food and all. $40 a day is impossible! Obviously, I am in a minority. People must love her. She gets a new show and endorsements for unhealthy snack crackers (which probably pays a lot!) Too bad she can't be bitch slapped into reality. For some reason when I picture her having sex, I see Viking helmets, leather bras, whips and clam dip. But to be fair, her awful show, 40 bucks a day, is a travel guide. How to travel and eat well for 40 dollars a day. Seasoned travelers all seem to agree they can do it for much less. It's a dreadful, awful show - endless orgasmic displays as she chomps down on some crap and of course that Betty Rubble giggle which is as phony as a 3 dollar bill. She's annoying, I'll give you that. |

Rent, food and > all. $40 a day is impossible! Ever go away on vacation? Ever notice most of her locations are usually in tourist areas? If you are staying on hotels/motels, you don't have cooking facilities and it is good to know you can eat on $40 a day. Sure, there are people in need and that have tough times, but that should not stop the rest of us from living our lives as we see fit. They won't be seeing Rachel anyway as she is on cable and if you are in that severe a need, you won't be paying for cable. |

Is that right? At some point after basic but while still in the service, everybody gets some part of their free will back. But if it suits you to blame the military for your persistent smoking habit, more power to you. Gotta blame somebody, right? <good thing you're not reserves, huh> |
