Default Hot air mini roaster oven thing. Anyone remember what they're called?

A yogurt-smoking tofu-weaving friend of mine used to cook on something
called a Remoska(sp?) but can't get a replacement any more, as
apparently they catch on fire (as hers did, so she doesn't want the
same thing again). When she explained how it worked, I said I
remembered seeing an informercial in the US for a mini hot air
roasting thing, which can take a chicken. It sounded ideal, so I said
I'd look on the interweb.

I've googled myself silly. All I managed to find was reference to
something called NESCO, but the only thing I can find in the UK is a
manual for one.

Does anyone remember what these things are called? IIRC, they just
swirl a vortex of extremely hot air down from the lid, and the food
sort of self-fries.
If someone knows where I can get one in the UK, (preferably with the
current £10 off GoogleBonus thingy), I'd be chuffed!

I used to have a vertical rotisserie that sounds most like that, but
these days the fan assisted countertop oven do that and many other
things. Some are microwave and convection combos, and if I had space
I'd probably have one.

I saw an advert only last week on t.v. (Not British t.v.) It was a
prog of about 10 minutes and by the end of it, I was sold on the
idea. It showed how to cook a small turkey, two chickens at the same
time, a huge rib roast. By the time I got home, I had forgotten the
0800 number to call but I do remember it was called Ronco.

Ah! There they are! We thought they'd been withdrawn. The hot air
thing sounds like something to try, though.

I threw away a small catalogue with one in it the other day, I'll see if
it's in the green bin ... hang on ...

Right, in this Mickey Mouse catalogue it's called a mini halogen oven and is
£39.99. I looked at it but decided that it was too energy hungry (1000W).
Mail me if you want more details of the supplier.

Hmmm, I don't think it was halogen, but might be worth a look if we
can't find the hot air version.

Post the name here - I'm sure no-one will mind. G'wan, gwa'n! Thanks!

That sounds like it might be the one - a quick google reveals lots of
BBQs and rotisseries, but I'm starting to get on the right lines. Many
thanks

"This revolutionary oven uses halogen and infr red technology with a fan

there's a picture of it, if you mail me I'll show you.

No. Mail me.

I found it on the Ronco site, (via Ebay) these are, I think, what you
are looking for, there is a small one and a large one and the one I
think you are referring to is RONCO SHOWTIME ROTISSERIE & BBQ OVEN. I
found it via Ebay, there are only 2 on the site.

Was it like this?
http://www.qvc.com/ type in K6040 in the search box

I saw these on qvcuk some years ago.

These are the only type they have currently.

Does the name Dave Dornbush ring any bells ?
If it does, it's the "TTS Jetstream Cyclojet oven deluxe" or summat....

I have no idea why that's stuck there in my head, Dave Dornbush was the fat
**** who presented the infomercial, he kept saying "meats" and "breads" for
some reason...

Hmmm, can't find a lot of info on this. However, someone has very
kindly sent me a link off-group. I'm still not quite sure of the
reasons for not posting it here, but anyway, it's this:
http://www.easylifegroup.com/products/1687.asp - and it's about £20
than anywhere else, here.
Plus, it got a good review:
http://www.ciao.co.uk/Comments-on-Re...n_Oven_5630197

So, it's cheaper than we thought, looks like the one I remember, and
has a timer and doesn't catch fire like the Remoska!

Thanks for everyone's help with this - question answered, problem
solved, and I'm probably going to get a nice roast partridge out of
this (or whatever unusual meat she's cooked up this time!)
