Default Urgent ...need help

Urgent ...need help

We have a Stainless steel GE Monogram Builtin Dishwasher ZBD5900
bought about 7 years ago
We live in the SF bay area, california.

We have a external home appliance warranty.

Our dishwasher needs repair.
The warranty company says it is not worth repairing
so they want to replace it.

I have no experience with dishwashers.

Can anyone suggest a comparable dishwasher ?
What brands ? What model ?
What one MUST have in terms of features ? What one should avoid ?

The one we have has a light inside the dishwasher. It comes on when
one opens
the door. It makes seeing things far back in the corner etc.

I have not seen this feature in the new models in leading brands
like Jenn Air etc

It is urgent because we need a dishwasher quickly. It has been almost
3 weeks now.

Any help would be highly appreciated.

Thanks a lot in advance,
Ava

Whirlpool (under their umbrella are also Jenn-Air and I forget who
else - oh, yeah, KitchenAid, and another one - Maytag, I think) makes
excellent appliances. I don't know specifically about their
dishwashers. I wouldn't hesitate to get a Whirlpool if they had the
features I wanted. I ended up with a Whirlpool stove and refrigerator
when I remodeled last year.

For a dishwasher, I have a built-in GE with a "tall tub," that I
love. It was about $600 retail. I can't tell you the model #, but I
bought it a year ago. It's behaved perfectly. (I also have an over-
the-stove GE microwave.)

I really love my Whirlpool dishwasher, the way the racks are
configured, the cutlery in the door (it can also be placed in the
racks), it's quiet, tall tub. I was happy as a clam when I found it
to replace my previous Whirlpool. Happy. heh.

The current equivalent model from GE is the ZBD0710NSS
http://www.monogram.com/selectiongui...dishwasher.htm

It's the only one with internal lighting.

Internal lighting?! Talk about guilding the lily, eh?
Do the dishes need to see the water coming at them?
Will I need that light to empty the dishwasher in the dark?
Somehow I just fail to see the need for this feature.. LOL.

I don't get that, either. What's to see back there, the
racks roll out. Then, I have no idea why anyone would
want a light in the clothes dryer, either. Mine new one has
that. I could have used it in my old washer, it was dark
in there and stuff would hide. Dishwasher? No thanks.

Don't talk to me about the sillines of internal lighting in a
dishwasher, talk to the Original Poster. She's the one who had it in
the first place. I was just showing her the current equivalent model.

If there isn't a light how will the dishes find the tv remote?
