I figured it was too late to start watching and planned to watch it on DVD but figured it wouldn't hurt to see the last episode. They met in the restaurant, were being watched by a guy at the counter, the girl was having trouble parking and I figured Tony would get whacked just as she was coming into the restaurant. Then the screen blanked out and the next thing I knew they were rolling the credits. I just upgraded to HD satellite a little while ago and some of the HD channels blank out or lose audio for a few seconds. Did I miss something, or did they leave it up in the air for the possibility of another series or a movie? |

I guess all the callers crashed HBO website because they were so letdown over the ending. My take on it is that anyone can make up their own ending. I made up my ending: Patsy's son, who is Meadow's boyfriend, probably told Meadow or she overheard a conversation that her boyfriend was having, that they were going to wipe them out (and the guys who were going to do it were the in the restaurant). She was coming to warn them. I assumed they all got it! But DH puts his own spin on it. That it was nothing, and life goes on for them. IMO there were many episodes that were similar to this -- nothing happening. Dee Dee |

In that case, I choose an ending similar to that from "Rocky Horror Picture Show." The guys in the restaurant are revealed as aliens from Uranus, as they're wearing silver-and-black leotards and sporting gravity-defying hair. Tony is shot with a disintegration beam, but it merely alters his clothes into a black-sequined corset, garter belt, silk stockings, and lingerie. Carmela reveals that she's been disguising her true nature with holograms, and she's really a ten-foot-long scorpion. Together they sing "My True Face Faces Your True Face," by turns rousing, vindictive, and tender. Meadow and AJ rush in and break into a poignant "We Knew It All Along" duet, as the restaurant detaches itself from the ground and rises into space with a gentle "foop" sound. Bob |

I thought they were all going to get hit, too, but my husband said, based upon the song that was playing (and I can't remember which one now, of course) he thought everything was going to go on as it always had. In any case, for the BIG last episode, it basically sucked. What a let down for such a fantastic show. kili |

For instance, that's their world in the mob, just hanging out with the family having ice cream, there could be people waiting to kill you all. Or not. Whatever. I've only seen a couple of episodes. Interesting show. They almost didn't get to film that final episode in that place because the mayor thought his title was king and he could kill it. nancy |

Kinda like we were viewing them through Tony's paranoid POV. One could also speculate that at the same moment Meadow entered the restaurant, the seedy-looking guy who went into the restroom came out and shot Tony in the back of the head (when the screen went blank). Who knows how it really ended? Chase will keep us guessing for all eternity... (I do not, for a second, believe there will be a movie. From what I've read, Gandolfini is totally done with playing Tony.) Mary |

Could you imagine living paranoidily (if that's a word?) like that every day? It's not worth it! In any case, I've heard most of the cast are tired of the role and are grateful it's over. I don't think there will be a movie, either. I think this was it and it's up to us to decide how it ends. Kind of not fair, but so-be-it. Of all the HBO series that I've watched so far, I think Six Feet Under had the best ending. I cried. I honestly cried; happy and sad tears. It was awesome. kili |

It took me a while to get into Six Feet Under but I eventually got hooked on it. That was a nice wrap up for the series. I never did watch more than a few minutes of the Sopranos, just couldn't get into a weekly stereotyped Italian mobsters. I figured I should watch the finale and see what happens. AFAIAC Nothing happened, so it is not worth going back and watching it to see how it happened. |

Curious as to why you figured you should watch the the finale? I felt the same way about Sopranos. Perhaps I had my back up about it. I made a derogatory comment one day while looking at a boxed set, and a guy with a "youse" accent suggested I buy it that I might like it. I poo-pooed it for several years as I really don't care for that sort of thing, But I evidently did because one day something on it caught my eye while thumbing thru the stations. I liked it because it brought Caesar, Brutus, Cassius, Anthony, Octavius alive as persons, whereas all the older movies or older BBC productions never did that for me; they seemed cardboard cutouts. Well -------- it's sex, sex, sex, pretty explicit, some killings and political intrigue. It can get gorey. And the language can be pretty bad. Some episodes are better than others, but there is one main character and his 'man/servant/body guard.' |
