Love it. I needed a laugh this morning, Andy. This has turned out to be a
really sucky week so far and it's only Tuesday.

The man who was hit is my 24 year old nephew; he was riding his bicycle on a
sidewalk.

Bear with a few seconds of advertisements. That is my nephew hit by the
asshole in the truck. He's in the hospital awaiting an MRI before they
surgically repair his leg(s) and other damage. I was told it's best not for
me to come visit... at least not yet.

Jill,

Honestly, that didn't register right when I read your first post. My
apologies. He sounds pretty torn up. Also hope his head injury doesn't
cause any brain damage.

24 years old? Let's hope he heals up quick.

As for the driver, well he's just a BUM!!!!!!

The burning question, off-topic tho it may be, is how to keep these
idiots off the road. The driver of the truck has a record as long as
your arm. Take away their license, and they drive without it.
impound their car, and they borrow their girlfriend's or other
friend's.

I lived in an apartment house when a drunk driver (21st birthday,
brand new gift car from daddy) plowed into the front of it. Right
into my neighbor's bedroom. Fortunately for everyone involved, the
car and house were the only ones to sustain damage. Speedy and
complete healing to your nephew, and comfort to your brother.

What kills me is they seemed to be more worried about the truck messing up
the flower beds in front of that house at the beginning of the newscast. Oh
yeah, that's a problem.

Yeah, and they enable these people! Mom's, sisters, girlfriends... makes no
sense. But he just fell asleep. Oh fer crying out loud. Who just falls
asleep while driving? I've driven plenty of long road trips; the answer
when you get sleepy is pull over. Find a motel or a campground. Stop
defending these losers! Perpetuating the behavior, that's the problem.

Alex is very fortunate, maxine. And thanks for the healing wishes. I'm
lighting a couple of candles for him. They tell me I can't see him today.

He's in for an MRI right about now and they are determining the how bad the
broken bones are. I was told not to go down to try to see him at this
point; he may be in surgery.
