Sorry to hear that. At least they didn't drop your call!

I've been going in and out of SSTI,
a flash memory company that has an
incredibly volatile stock. I rode it
from 3.78 to 3.98, then again from
3.605 to 3.81. I'll get back in if
it goes below 3.70.

It's sitting near the bottom of it's
52-week range, so I think it has good
prospects. They've been beaten up
due to general softness in flash memory
and failure to make some financial
reports.

I intend to be the last person in America WITHOUT a cellphone.

I have never seen so many examples of public
bad-manners, bad-driving, bad-taste.....

Yesterday, I stood inline behind a woman carrying on
a very animated cell-phone conversation.
She wouldn't interrupt her chatter to PAY HER GROCERY BILL !!

I'm beginning to suspect that the "telephone waves"
from these things affect ones mental balance.

No thanks !

I used to say the same thing, but a cross country family crisis forced
me to get a pre-paid cellphone. Since then, I've had to admit a few
handy points, but I'm still not a fan and leave mine home most of the
time.

Of course the thing to do is for the checker to start handling the next
customer. I suspect that is very difficult, if not impossible. I also
predict that if this problem comes up too often, stores will find a way
to do this. It's not just rude to the checker, it's rude to everyone
else in line.

I haven't seen it with a cell phone (yet), but I was in a long line at
the grocery store, and the person being checked out remembered one more
thing they needed. They asked the checker if they could go get it. The
checker replied that they would be happy to void out all the items and
the person could come back and wait in line again. The customer looked
at their items, and the long line, and decided they could do without
that last item.

More and more medical offices I see have signs asking that cell phones
be turned off. Some are honest (IMNSHO) and cite courtesy to the staff,
and other patients in the waiting room. Some claim that they interfere
with medical equipment. IMNSHO, medical equipment that is so poorly
shielded and designed that the low power emitted by a cell phone will
cause it to malfunction, is already defective. I don't mind a little
white lie, though, if it gets me out of there more quickly.

I'm not a trader. I did drop my shares of DAR last month after only
13 months in. They clean grease traps in commercial kitchens and also
recycle grease, selling it to soap makers and such. The idea of
owning "retirement grease" (OBFood) was so appealing, not the least
because of the episode of the Simpsons. But the share price got
overheated by speculation that renderings will be the next big biofuel
resource. When the P/E hit 50, I bailed.

Good luck.

I usually leave mine in the car. It's a good thing to have when driving the
freeways here in SoCal.

this is a frequent complaint at the *customers suck* web site. it
drives cashiers nuts. some are allowed to ignore the customer until
they get off the goddamn phone, which doesn't help the other customers
much.

I can assure you that if I was in the line, it would not be ignored. I can
become very vocal when idiots do things like that. You can also bet the
manager would be there quickly.
