And it seems every weekend was a bloody seafood feast!! I'm all seafooded
out at the moment.
Having delicious dreams of a medium rare eye fillet steak, chargrilled to
perfection and drizzled with garlic butter... YUM!!

Neither can I. That's not entirely true though, I know it was several
years ago. It's just that I can't bring myself to pay $20+ a pound for
so little meat.

At that price, no one should bother. I have some contacts in the business
so I never pay more than $5, but right now it is running $12 in the stores
around here (CT/MA) It's OK, but certainly not worth a high price.

I tend to splurge on seafood when I get the tax return check.
Last time we bought live Lobster, we decided we liked crab better.

That was 8 years ago...

Rib eye has been $8.00 per lb. forever now.
I won't pay that. :-(

The last time I remember was when I made a lobster
salad for a niece's wedding shower 2 or 3 years ago.
I got a taste before I vacated the premises.

Personally I prefer crab, in my case, Dungeness.

If you can't remember, your memory isn't serving you right.

I bought a 1.5-lb tail a few months ago. It took forever to cook and I had
a hard time eating that much lobster. I buy smaller tails now.

No, no, no, no, no!

MY memory said lobster but we ALL can't be lobster'd like I was. What about
grilled cheese, meatloaf, deep-fried french fries?!?

Why didn't I make myself clearer?!?

DON'T ANSWER THAT!

That's funny. I interpreted the question that way too. I didn't take
it to be a question on when the last time I had lobster was (a few weeks
ago at a seafood restaurant). I took the question to mean "what's the
food that you can't remember last eating?" And since it didn't make
sense that I was supposed to mention something I didn't remember, I
skipped the question and waited to see how others answered. I'm glad to
see someone else twisted it the same way I did.

I've had trouble deep frying squash...
How did you do it and how did it turn out?
I can pan fry it but it tends to get soggy for me if I try it in the

Actually, we did pan-fry it, but they were completely submerged in the oil,
so it's kind of a deep-fry???? I love them done that way; they're almost
like candy.

I'd love to find some crawfish that weren't already cooked and seasoned.
The few times we've bought them, they were pre-cooked in cajun seasoning (so
you know I won't touch them) and for the price (about $10 a bag), you get
such a tiny little sliver of meat. Not worth it to me. Now, if someone
were to hand me some fresh, raw, FREE crawdaddies, yeah, I'd be all over
those. :~)

Default I can't remember the last time I had...

I haven't had lobster since vacationing in Puerto Vallarta in 2001.

I'm planning on flying into Boston this Fall, renting a car, and
driving the Eastern Seaboard. . .I'm hoping to eat a ton of lobsters,
and clam chowder along the way.

As for abalone, I haven't had that since the 1970s.

However, I can cheat a bit on the abalone. I sometimes buy turkey
breast steaks, pound them a bit, let them soak in clam juice, bread
them and cook them like abalone. It's a pretty good cheat;-)

It has been a while, even though lobster is much more affordable than it
used to be. It has always been expensive here, and the rare times that I
had it I was not impressed enough to figure that it was worth so much. Then
about 20 years ago I was on vacation and went through Bar Harbour to get
the ferry to Nova Scotia and had lobster in a seafood restaurant there. I
had a lobster epiphany and discovered that fresh lobster properly cooked is
delicious, unlike the pre-cooked rubbery things we used to get here.

A grilled ham & cheese sandwhich made with bread dipped in a egg-batter.
Which's true name escapes me at present (Monti something). I believe it
was in the 1970's on a sunny tuesday in august when I last had one.

Liver and onions last had sometime in the 1990's.

Why would anyone want to, ribeye is the tofu of beef. For eight
dollars I can slap a one inch thick 2 1/2 pound chuck steak on the
grill with no seasoning whatsoever and two hungry beasts can gorge
like kings on pure beef flavor.

The foods I miss most up here in hillybilly land is fresh caught ocean
fish and Chinese food.

A Monte Cristo! I've always wanted to try a grilled cheese (no ham) done
like that. I've just never done it.

For me, it's been escar-went. (Shudder) I've had it twice and both times
weren't pleasant, but I've heard that's not the norm. I'll give them 1 more
try and if they still taste like garlic flavored dirt, at least I tried
them. :~)

A Monte Cristo Sandwich. They are good, but hard to find a decent one
here in Utah. I don't know when the last time I had fresh Shrimp. Here
in Utah it is always previously frozen. I guess you can get some flown
in fresh at the VERY expensive places. Living in Houston I would buy
it and cook it the same day it came out of the Gulf. Yum!!!! It has
been over 20 years. I really do miss fresh seafood, REAL BBQ, and the
Mexican food I grew up with. If I want a Rare steak, I better cook it
myself. In Houston I would always order Medium Rare and it would have
a warm red center. Here in Utah I order Rare and am lucky to get it
even a little pink. Ahhh the good old days.

Called a Monte Cristo. Tasty.

One of my favourite foods when it's prepared properly. However, I know
that lots of people dislike the dish. Actually, any dish with lots of
onions is a favourite food for me!
