Default Dinner last night 1Jul07

We'd been out most of the day and had just come back from taking the pooch
for a run/play and sharing a bottle of red whilst watching the sunset......
and then visiting a friend on the way back home for a couple more glasses
of red.... so dinner was going to be a slap-dash affair.

Looked in the fridge, pulled a few ingredients out, some (Musgovian?)
Barossa Camembert cheese, pepperoni salami, mushrooms, onions, olives,
capsicum........ was just going to do a snack platter but the SO wanted
something *hot*....... so I pulled the jalapenos out as well, made some
pizza dough and we had pizza and calzones.

20calzones/

(Haven't figgered out how to have the pics going from 1-20, so they're arse
about at the moment.)

She got her *hot* pizza both ways........ straight out of the oven and with
a tad too many jalepenos on it :-)

Hey, I have one of those aerated pizza pans as well. I rarely use it
though.. I might be making pizza this week..but since I am now home, I
will use my pizza stone and peel...

Been looking around for some terracotta floor tiles that I can use as a
pizza stone.
Not many people use terracotta tiles for their floors nowadays :-(

But the 'areated' pizza pan does a great job of crisping the underside. I
used to use a stainless tray before, and always had to take the pizza off
about 3/4 of the way through cooking and place it onto the oven racks so
that it would brown the bottom and not stay soft.

Now I just use my stainless trays for heating nibblies etc.

Outstanding! I'll go pack and grab my passport. Should I bring beer or
wine? Or both!?

Both. Some good Red, and either Cascade or Boags Premium.

Which reminds me, I have to go make up some more garlic butter with some
of that roasted garlic I did last night.

You have inspired me to make pizza. Perhaps I'll try it tonight. Thanks,
Peter! (I'll be borrowing your pizza dough recipe.) :~)

Try to find the terra cotta 6x6 tiles... they aren't as thick as floor
tiles and heat up faster. Glad I bought enough 6x6 to last a while.
DS also told me they are next to impossible to find now and when you
do find them, you have to buy the whole box.

Yes. I had a piece of sheet metal cut to fit the rack to catch the
"fallout" cornmeal, but you could use foil or a sideless cookie sheet
instead. Seams are not a problem. The dough doesn't go into them and
the bottom of the pizza is perfectly smooth when you take it out. No
clue about multiple tiles to the pizza eater.

You're very welcome. As luck would have it, we made pizza tonight.
Here's what my tiles look like. http://i18.tinypic.com/52lewj5.jpg
The sheet metal is at least 20 years old and seems to have a slight
buckle when it's heated now. That's life! We all get old and buckle
eventually. LOL!

Hmmmmmmm, 18" square. My current stoves trays are only 17" x 13&1/2"....
so a bit of tile cutting will be in order.
But then again, the damn stove sucks *and* blows, so it won't be having
a very long life....... (that's what you get for letting a woman pick
your stove for you :-(

Take it out and re-pound it for a bit?

Sounds like you have a convection oven... the fancy (expensive) kind
that doesn't give you a choice between regular bake and convect.
I looked at those when I needed to replace my old GE oven (that came
with the house), but ended up with a Jenn-Aire. I didn't think to
measure the interior at the time, but the JA turned out to have a
slightly smaller interior even though we had to enlarge the wall
opening.... better insulation, I guess.

It's flat when cool. I just noticed that buckle when I heated it up
today.

Nahhh, it's just a shitty old (new) plain stove/oven. No fan forced.
