Default Maull's

People in St. Louis know about Maull's barbecue sauce, and most love
it. It is interesting. Raw out of the bottle, I find it rather
unappealing, but grilled onto a pork steak or chicken, it's really
nice. If you're passing through StL, pick up a bottle (no, I don't
work for them).

A lot of people dislike it. You are fine in thinking that to you, it
is similar in appeal to doctored Brooks catsup, but you shouldn't give
the impression that it is similar to such. Maull's is a non-mustard,
low molasses BBQ sauce. I have three problems with it:
1. too vinegarry (surprise, surprise)
2. too runny
3. too little capsaicin (easy to remedy with Pure Cap)

The Wolf Sauce at Smokin' Al's is pretty darned good, and not too
expensive. Fairly often, I will baste with Maull's, then remove the
chicken or pork and put it into Wolf Sauce.

Well, that's a bit of an exaggeration, but I appreciate the passion of
your hatred for the sauce.
