A few years ago, the family stayed overnight in Seatac (the town, not
the airport) before a trip back East. We ate at a local restaurant (I can't remember the name) that served a pan fried pork chop with a creamy almond and date sauce that was sooooo good! Well, tonight the boys (DH & DS-10) are making the trip again, so I want to eat at that same restaurant. I've scoured the Net, but I can't find it. Hopefully I'll recognize it when we get to Seatac. I've made my own version of this dish, but I'd like to have theirs again to figure out how many dates to use; that's something I didn't include: Pork Chops in Cream Sauce w/Almonds 1 3/4 lbs. thin cut, boneless pork chops 1/3 C. chopped, slivered almonds 1/2 medium onion, sliced into rings 1-2 cloves minced garlic 1 C. half & half 1 T. butter 2 T. Olive Oil Salt & Pepper In two large frying pans, sauté chops in olive oil, onion slices, garlic, and S&P. Remove chops from pans and keep warm. Deglaze pans with half & half; simmer and stir until reduced by half. Meanwhile, in seperate pan, toast chopped almonds in butter. Add to cream sauce and pour over chops. 8 servings. -- Jani in WA |
