Default To the Memory of Fresh Raspberries Sold at the Market

Through the cellofeign I see your stark plight,
A charem of women who have lost their knight.

When I open the lid, I feel your distress.
You're all ravished and trembling from PTS.

What draws me disturbs, I start to salivate.
I have no charity for I simply take.

Having eaten and put you all out of sight,
I'm surprised, I do not feel a bit contrite.

This reminds me of Lewis Carroll's 'The Walrus and the Carpenter'

"A loaf of bread," the Walrus said,
"Is what we chiefly need:
Pepper and vinegar besides
Are very good indeed--
Now if you're ready, Oysters dear,
We can begin to feed."

"But not on us!" the Oysters cried,
Turning a little blue.
"After such kindness, that would be
A dismal thing to do!"
"The night is fine," the Walrus said.
"Do you admire the view?

"It was so kind of you to come!
And you are very nice!"
The Carpenter said nothing but
"Cut us another slice:
I wish you were not quite so deaf--
I've had to ask you twice!"

"It seems a shame," the Walrus said,
"To play them such a trick,
After we've brought them out so far,
And made them trot so quick!"
The Carpenter said nothing but
"The butter's spread too thick!"

I don't know whether your contribution here puts you into the "over-
achiever" category or not.

His writing influenced me a great deal. I say this quite seriously.
In elementary school the first poem I recall memorizing was
"Jabberwocky." And I am using the name Alice in a fiction piece I am
writing to pay tribute to him. Despite what is said about him
personally, he had a delicious imagination.

reminded me of this:

This Is Just To Say

I have eaten
the plums
that were in
the icebox

and which
you were probably
saving
for breakfast.

Forgive me
they were delicious
so sweet
and so cold.

"ergot-derived substance"?

First, I thought you were talking about a medication for Parkinson's
or valvular heart disease. I gasped and my eyes rolled in fear that
you may not be well. I subspoke "Poor nervous man. First concrete
slabs and now this."
Second, when you posted this and <I am googling this as I write> OHO!
you did not mean these ... derived substances, but rather you were
referring to a substance directly grown out in the open fields under
the rays of the sun and from which ... so forth and so on ...

You are either a NARC-a-zoid posing as an innocent kitten huffer or
<damn I dropped a slice of freeze-dried mango in the dirt> WHEN in
fact, and I take umbrage with this option, <hold up, I'm thirsty --
gotta get some diet tonic> you are trying to discredit the sweet
nature of Holly BY suggesting that she must be on some mind-altering
substance above and beyond the sweet air she breathes and the sweet
water (tonic in this case) she drinks.

Well sir, despite your slithering, side-winding, worm-wood-spoken
folly, my true and honest answer to you is *NO*. No, I do not have
any ill-gotten substances ... no sirree. My mind is in and of itself
sufficiently uplifted by the day-to-day exchanges I am so fortunate to
experience with such fine fellows as yourself, sir, and the good
master of the grump, Mr. MBB -- ergot-derived though the two of you
may be...AND ... my regular trips in the time machine.
