I knew a cow orker like that. The refuse was all computer and
electronics related, but the end effect was no different. One trail
and one seat per room. [shudder]

My grandmother was like that, only with her it was boxes. They
were *everywhere*. The place had trails through them. Her bedroom
closet was full of boxes and had more piled in front. Half of her
bed was covered and she had to hang her clothes on the shower rod.
The worst part was she refused to let us get rid of them. The boxes,
btw, were full of rubber bands, plastic bags, grocery meat trays
(clean), and other things she thought she might need someday...

"Disposophobia"... pfft! Unless a person is just an irretrievable slob,
this is a mark of obsessive compulsive disorder. And it's not fear of
disposing of something. It's anxiety caused by the possibility of not
having something. They used to just call these people "hoarders" or
"collectors." OCD's can't really say why they keep things forever. There
is a reason and therapy might bring it out, but the reason is displaced
by the ritual.

Not just a disposal side thing. I know a lady, a professional, who
buys expensive "stuff" compulsively. The effect is the same. Clutter
beyond belief, all pricey valuble stuff. She has two storage
containers to handle the overflow. When she's not working, she's
buying.

Same as with a friend of mine. She has made trails from door to door and to
the windows. On that floor there is *everything*.
