Default Back into the corn field of dreams!

It's time again to return to the annual Corn Festival at Linvilla Orchards
tomorrow.

http://www.linvilla.com/events/corn_festival.php

My 2nd annual attending. I've been waiting patiently all month!

I'll be sure to make myself scarce in the sweet corn fields for a while,
sitting in the dirt, eating raw sweet corn fresh off the stalks, drooling and
dripping corn milk. I figure to eat maybe four ears in the fields and four
ears for home. And some of the corn goodies they'll be cookin' up at the
festival.

I may even stray into the peach tree orchard for a taste of those. I don't
know when peak season is for them, except they stop picking in mid-September.

chilichick,

You mean you haven't google'd for a "pick your own" corn field near you??

As kids, we used to summer at an organic farm in New Hope, PA and lay in
the corn fields and eat sweet corn. It will take me back, if only for a
short while.

All the best,

Andy

Andy, was it organic at the time?
New Hope, PA -- what a wonderful place.

Yes. The farm was completely organic and self sustaining. Milk at breakfast
was only a couple hours old, that morning's eggs, etc., fresher than money
could buy.

New Hope WAS great. A few times a summer, we'd go into town and go to the
movies, just a long barn with backless wood benches to sit on. Then on the
way back, we'd stop at Greene's for ice cream, licorice and candy buttons.
Livin' large at 5 y.o.!

Sadly, when the farmer's children got old enough to leave, they did and the
farm closed by 1968, iirc.

I'm off to the corn fields.

They have a webcam that updates every 5 minutes...

I'll try to make a stand at around 11 am, if you wanna take a peek.

Look for this guy...

I don't know why this reminds me of Stephen King's "Children of the Corn".
Be afraid, be very afraid... of Andy in a cornfield!

Jill,

Honest, once you get into the corn, if you don't have a sense of direction
you will get lost!

I don't know the King novel, but if you happen to be lost in the corn and
bump into me, I'm only asking for directions myself! ))
