Today is the anniversary of Crash's and my first date. We're having a
special dinner (well, special to us) in about an hour or so.

Marinated shrimp on skewers, grilled, then served with lemon butter.
Marinated chicken breast with onion and red, yellow, and green
peppers, skewered and grilled.
Brown rice.
Pound cake with fresh strawberries and whipped cream for dessert.

It's been raining intermittently all day, so grilling may or may not
be a challenge. But this is going to be a real treat for us, either
way!

(Crash has been having problems with his artificial hip making loud,
horrible grinding sounds, and he's having trouble walking, but he's in
good spirits. We see the orthopod on Monday)

Your pork steaks sound fantastic, Alan. The shrimp was just so-so.
It was pre-cooked and didn't pick up the flavor of the marinade. Does
that make it any better? The chicken, on the other hand, was
fantastic, and we're definitely going to make it more often.

Dinner was wonderful. I love the nuttiness of brown rice, and the

Happy Anniversary to you both! Hope you have/had a wonderful celebration. My
hubby and I will be celebrating our 12th wedding anniversary next month (we
had 3.5 years of unwedded bliss before that!).

what? Lots of cats live long happy lives with that condition; you don't
just put them down. You said you needed money to take her to the vet. Next
thing I know, the money is gone and the cat was euthanized. No explanation,
no medical diagnosis. Just, oh, we had the cat put to sleep. So what the
hell was I supposed to think? Costs $25 to get a cat PTS... I sent you
$200. And I know others sent you money for that cause, too. What happened
to the rest of the money, hmmmmm.

Om, whoever that "Jill" was, it wasn't me. I haven't thought about or
posted about Damsel in well over a year. I sent her an email and got a
report back that Crash was doing poorly. Now all of a sudden I'm a pariah.

Pass this on to Crash. My grandfather had both knees replaced...
after the age of 80. It was really, really hard to say the least. He
made it, though. Spent the rest of his life running around the house
like a youngster.

Have patience, and work with the docs and the physical therapists.
It tough because you can't dictate the speed of your recovery.

Thanks, Paco! We had pound cake because that's what Crash brought to
contribute for dessert for the first meal I ever prepared for him.
Then one of our roommates bought the strawberries and whipped cream
because that's what he prefers. We enjoyed the pound cake both plain
and adorned.

It was. Especially the chicken kabobs. I wish we had made more of
them. Tomorrow, I'm using leftovers and making a stir-fry of chicken,
onions, and all three kinds of bell peppers. Not sure if anyone else
here will eat that, but I'm making it anyway. A girl deserves a treat
every now and then.

Thanks, Reg! He had the surgeries two years ago. This horrible
grinding sound is new. Like his brake pads are shot or something.
