Most 3- and 5-year-olds who taste-tested a variety of foods said they
preferred the ones in the McDonald's wrapper -- even though the foods were exactly the same, a new study finds. The study: http://archpedi.ama-assn.org/cgi/content/full/161/8/792 |

There's no proof that kids wouldn't prefer Dairy Queen or Burger King or Jabba the hutburger's food. WHY do I know this??? Not ONE occurrence of Burger King in that ridiculous web report! Assholism strikes again! Andy |

Sticking the child(ren) in front of the TV in the evening after dinner from McD's is what married with kids 30-year old who are both working full time to pay a mortgage, two car loans, two sets of student loans, and the portion of the wedding that was paid with a credit card do. The study in question is seriously flawed. Besides only providing one brand name (the one the study was designed to maliciously target), the alternate option was in plain white packaging vs. the McD packaging which had colors. To make a valid test, the alternate would have had to have a comparably colorful branding from a fictitious restaurant. Kids respond to color a lot and a package with color will always be more attractive than a plain white one. All they proved is that presentation has an effect, i.e. bland package vs. colorful one. If you had half a brain you would've realized that instead of proving that you don't have a brain. Andy |

Things must've changed since I worked at a BK for a high school summer job. The broiler had two wire-rod conveyor belts, one for the burgers and one for the buns. The bun belt ran faster (so buns would be ready and waiting) in a pan so when a burger fell off the burger belt, you grabbed it with tongs, tossed it in the bun and then into a steam oven, stacked at least 6 burgers high (iirc). Those bottom burgers could sit in the oven all day since it was a LIFO stack process to "have it your way, old, wilted and squashed." Then they'd get yanked out and dressed with toppings then quickly microwaved and wrapped for your dining pleasure when you ordered. If you got to eat a burger straight out of the broiler, it was worlds better than what most customers ate. I usually ran my burgers through the broiler twice to do away with some of the grease they were dripping in. -- Andy Three Stooges in One CotD #2 |
