Default Happy Birthday To Stan

Happy Birthday, Stan and many, many more.

I hope the visits to the Central Park Zoo and the Apple Store are as
much fun as you expected.

Hugs, Margaret

Sheldon;

That recipe looks interesting, but unfortunately, the cute young woman
and her boyfriend appear to have used non-Heinz ketchup in their cake
recipe.

While Margaret posted that announcement, I was out shooting photos in
the Central Park Zoo. It was my first visit there. Its a nice zoo, if
not a little small.

Thanks to Margaret's generous hospitality, I drove up to NYC Monday
night after work and slept on the couch in Margaret's den. Margaret was
waiting for me with food on the table: pastrami, corned beef, chicken
fingers, and three different salads, one of which I never had before,
celery root salad, which is like mayo-based cole slaw, but with strands
of celery root instead of cabbage. There was also cole slaw and potato
salad on the table. Some half sour pickles were also served, and I think
the regular dill pickles. I tried everything except the potato salad and
the rye bread. Everything was great, and Margaret was such nice company!

By the time I got to Margaret's place, it was 8:00pm. We chatted and
nibbled on the food for two hours or so. Margaret went to bed. I felt
energetic after dinner, so I told Margaret I was going out for a little
walk. That little walk ended up being five miles! I walked from
Margaret's 76th Street Apartment west to 5th Avenue, then I walked south
to 59th Street and I went into the Apple store and I looked around. I
stopped along the way to get a cup of low carb double dutch chocolate
ice cream at a store in Margaret's neighborhood. I was only in the Apple
store for a few minutes. By the time I got back to Margaret's apartment,
it was 11:00. I went to sleep and read a few pages of her New York Times
to nod off.

When I woke up, Margaret made me a ham omelet with some toasted rolls.
We chatted for a little while. Margaret dashed off to a nearby Ronald
MacDonald House (not the restaurant) to donate some odds and ends for
their side walk sale to raise money. After I finished my shower, I went
over there and Margaret and I looked around at the items being sold.

Then, thinking Margaret had a full day planned, I made my way east
toward the East River and I quickly decided it wasn't worth seeing at
that point, so I turned around and I walked to Central Park. I walked
along one of the trails south. I stopped along the way and shot quite a
few photos in the park before I got to the zoo.

I then ended up at the Apple store again hoping to see the new iMacs I
knew they would announce today, but there was nothing out of the
ordinary there. I ate a small lunch at the Carnegie Deli (just a kasha
knish and some chicken soup).

By that time, my 20 pounds worth of camera gear was really causing me an
achy back, so I decided to walk to B&H camera store at 34th & 9th, but
by the time I got to 53rd Street, my back was killing me, so I took the
E train to Penn Station, which let out one block from the camera store.
I bought a nice backpack style camera bag, then I went back on the E
train north, then I transferred to the 6th train which let me out pretty
close to Margaret's apartment.

While I was resting my tired feet at Margaret's, a bouquet of aromatic
roses in a nice vase was delivered for Margaret. The roses were sent by
a certain RFCer, who's name will not be disclosed here, but it rhymes
with brandy! Margaret sure was surprised to receive such beautiful roses!

I picked up some rolls for home from a neighborhood bakery and a snack,
then Margaret and Marcel and I went to El Grecko for dinner. Both
Margaret and I had Osso Buco for dinner. Marcel ordered soft shell
crabs. We all enjoyed our food, even though Marcel's order was messed up
slightly. Margaret was nice enough to make this my birthday dinner.

My drive home was uneventful. After I dropped Marcel off at his
apartment, the traffic going home via the Lincoln Tunnel and the NJ
Turnpike was ver light. The drive took me only about two hours. Of
course, I arrived home with a care package from Margaret!

Take care, all!

Stuff-itis = the propensity to acquire more stuff then one has room to
store.

I know, it starts to close in on you after a while. And you have to
dust it.
